I think 3 or 4 mm if it’s the only ring I’ll be wearing. Excellent choice!

This depend on so many things. What size is your finger? How long are your fingers? By alone do you mean without an engagement ring ?

I prefer a wider band since I have long fingers and a skinny one gets lost.

I have a silicone 6mm to wear by itself. My diamond wedding band is 3.3 mm to wear with my engagement ring.

I have a small fingers and while working at home, wear my 2mm wedding band by itself. It’s so comfy and I forget it’s there! Love plain gold wedding bands.

I did consider a 3mm but while it did look good by itself, was a bit too much for when I do wear my engagement ring. The 2mm is very delicate-looking and can disappear on the hand, so if you have larger hands or a wider e-ring, a 3mm may be better.

My wedding band is a plain platinum 2 mm band and I often wear it alone. It looks very delicate, but that’s what I prefer. If you want something substantial, you should get 3 mm.

Definitely 3mm in my opinion if you are wearing it alone. I usually always wear my engagement ring and plain wedding band together, and even with my 2.5mm plain band I sometimes wish I went larger to 3mm instead. picture for reference:

If it was the only ring I was wearing, I would go for 4MM at the very least, but likely would pick a 5-6 MM

3mm in my opinion. It strikes me as a universally perfect width, not too wide, not too narrow, subtle but substantial. I’m planning on going with 3.5 myself, but I’m planning on wearing it alone the majority of the time and I like a chunkier look. I’ve also got tiny fingers (size 4.5).

I’d probably go 2.5mm if it was all I was wearing, but I have quite small hands with quite short fingers so that would inform my decision for sure.

@beedod:  Mine is 3. I wear it alone on occasion and think the width is perfect.

I wear just my wedding band much of the time since COVID and it’s 4mm. I actually covet my DH’s ring for a wear alone ring, and his is 6.(we both have the traditional Jewish plain-gold-band). When I wear my e-ring, the 4 is perfect, but without I’d get a 6.

If all you are wearing is a wedding then I would go for the 3mm. It will look beautiful on it’s own and even if you have short fingers(which I do) it will still look great.

I am not one to just wear a band without my engagement ring but if I were I would probably go with 3mm. I have several 2mm plain bands and for me they are to thin to wear alone…I’m a size 7 for reference. I’ve been married 16 yrs in February and have never just worn a wedding band so I’m not much help but I suggest trying several widths on and see what you like best. GL

My engagement ring is on a 3mm engraved band, and I pair it with a 2.5mm plain band. I don’t wear my wedding band by itself. The 2.5mm felt perfect for my particular set, not exactly as wide as the other ring, but close. If I were to wear a plain band, I would probably choose 3mm or 4mm. I’m a size 9, for reference.

I just purchased a 4mm engraved rose gold filled titanium band, for when I don’t want to wear my engagement ring. I like it, it seems good for those occasions when you don’t want to damage your ring.

Pictures of my diamond set, and the other band:
