So I just went for my 2nd to last dress fitting this week. It was the first time I’ve ever tried it on and had it fit me without having to hold the straps up or having it clipped so that felt good. I guess wedding nerves are just getting to me because I’m looking at the one pic I have of me in the dress at the 2nd fitting and I’m honestly not feeling that great about it. I know it still has to be steamed and that the sides are up higher at the bottom because she had just pinned it for the bustle so I’m trying to remind myself that it will probably look better on the day of but right now…yeah…not crazy about it.
The first pic is from when I bought the dress 7 months ago (off the rack sample)…the thing I think I liked most about it was the way the bottom draped but I guess it was just like that because it was too long. Which sucks since now that it’s been hemmed so that I won’t trip over it, it has lost that part that I liked. The dress is silk taffeta so I know the wrinkles won’t come completely out and I’m ok with that but I hope that the crinoline underneath (tulle) will settle a bit after steaming and the dress will drop a bit.
Anyways – it’s far too late to let it upset me too much, not like I have any other choice but to wear it at this point (10 more days!). Really, there’s nothing worse than dress regret 10 days before your wedding. Regardless, I’ll be married at the end of the day and we can always renew our vows in 10 years and I can wear my dream dress then, I suppose.

Looks fantastic to me! The skirt has really pretty draping; it’s my favorite part and it looks way better in the second pic. The only difference I see betweent the pictures is that the pre alterations dress looks like it fits better under the boob esp on the right- but that could be the lighting which is pretty different between the pics.

@LibbyLoo: I think the dress is very flattering! Looks great on you, I think once you see it with hair and makeup done you will love it!

Thank you, ladies! It’s so hard to get a good idea of what it will really look like on the day so I know I just have to keep breathing and trust that everything will work out fine. Very scary to buy something that was already 1/2 size too big and then wonder what it will look like 25 pounds lighter. I’ve lost about 50 pounds since we got engaged and half of that since I bought the dress. I’m also the nitpickiest person when it comes to myself and always much more relaxed about every other detail…lol…I’m not stressed about any other aspect of the wedding other than how I’m going to look.
@kgirl91: I agree, it does look a bit off in the second photo but I think you’re right, it is probably the lighting – it is a combination of fluorescent lighting and full daylight so it is definitely throwing me off when I look at it too. It was all halogen lighting in the first photo. It could also be that my boobs probably got smaller since the first photo. I bought silicone falsies to help fill out my bustier…there’s also some wire in the bust of the dress that I may have mashed down while adjusting it. I’ll make sure to fix that on the day of – thank you for pointing it out!

I think it’s just having it bustled that I’m not crazy about, now that I’m looking closer…but it’s a necessary evil for the reception portion as the train is too long and too heavy to carry around all night.

You’re having wedding jitters! You look beautiful in your gown and your most recent fitting looks good! I can still see where it drapes, it just fits better now. 🙂 don’t worry!!

I think it looks extremely beautiful! It is a very flattering fit and your waist looks tiny! You look great!

Such a beautiful gown on you! In all honesty I prefer how it looks after alterations, the draping of the skirt as it was originally looks a bit too long, clumsy and curtain-like. Post alterations, you still get that beautiful flow but the drape is a lot neater and more manageable. And the dress fits you so much nicer in the bust/rib area than the original one. Gorgeous!

I think it looks great! it lays very nicely on you and is oh-so-flattering! be confident in how you look, it’ll reflect how you look at urself in ur dress!
if u say to urself, “damn, i look GOOOOOOOD!”, that’s what you will see in the mirror, what ur pictures will show, what ur guests will see and u’ll carry urself 100x’s better!
congrats on tying the knot soon! it’ll be amazing! 🙂
