So, I had my hair and make-up trial, and my hair didn’t come out like my inspiration photos. It was pretty, but more beachy casual curl, with lots of wavy small curls, when I wanted a vintage/retro hollywood side curl. (So more polished, bigger curls, and less messy looking.) I told the salon, and they said they can make the changes and that my hair stylist has been doing this for 20 years. They also said I don’t need another trial. Would you trust the salon, or go in for a 2nd trial? It costs $180 and requires a fair bit of travel on my part (I am having a semi destination wedding). Did anyone have a similar thing happen with their hair trial?
Thanks!

Pin curls/finger wave curls aren’t easy and if that’s the look you are hoping for you need to make sure that look can be achieved.
I say before trusting that a seasoned hair stylist, whom I assume did your trial and not to your expectations, can magically do what you want your wedding day! Have another trial if your first really is not at all what you would like for your wedding day!

I am going through the same thing. I did my hair trial two days ago for $150 and put another $150 deposit towards the day of. The results were okay but i didnt get that wow factor i was hoping for and now im doubting if i want to have my hair up or if i Should do half up and half down. Something just seemed off about how i looked and i cant put my finger on it. I emailed her today to see if we can do another trial because idk how comfortable i am with just winging itthe day of.
I guess it all depends on how you feel. My hair and makeup is very important to me and i cant shake this sinking feeling i have that it wont turn out to be how i envisioned it. How you look can really impact how you feel and if you want a certain style, i think u should stand your ground and make sure she understands what you want and executes it accordingly. You dont want to regret it later and wish you had done something about it

I hate how much they charge. I had one hair trial and absolutely hated all of the styles she tried. Booked a different one and didn’t like that either. Ugh. Did two makeup trials as well and didn’t like those either. I’m determined to do my own makeup now but I’m in the same boat as I don’t want to do my own hair, nor do I think I could do it as well, so now i’m struggling trying to find another one.

I actually just did my 2nd hair trial today. After looking at pictures of the first one I did a few days ago, I didn’t care for it and didn’t feel pretty. I did another trial and it is so much better and I left feeling a lot happier. They charged me $20 for the first trial and she didn’t charge me anything for the one today. My updo the day of the wedding will be around $60. I am doing my make up by myself. I like the way I do my make up and I do it well. I know what works well on my face since I’ve been putting make up on it since middle school. I don’t want someone new, even a professional, to do my make up on a very special and important day. Also keep in mind that a trial is just that, a trial. It won’t look exactly like it will on your wedding day. For instance, for my second trial, there were hairs poking out that will be tucked in the day of, and she didn’t apply hairspray which will be applied the day of as well. We tried on my veil with the hairstyle to make sure there weren’t any unforeseen consequences. Other than that just ask questions and don’t be afraid to ask them to make changes! Good luck.

happycamper8: Yep. I didn’t like my first trial so I had another one with the same lady. Worked out really well and gave me piece of mind. I definitely recommend doing another one.

That happened to me too. I ended up talking to my hair stylists on the phone and we got a really great idea of what we wanted, and we just made those changes on the wedding day. I didn’t have the time or money to do another trial. It turned out great.

Lalavla: Thanks for the input! Yeah, I had no idea that the style I picked is difficult. As she was styling my hair, I didn’t think it would come out right, but felt bad saying something. Guess I know better!
Mango817: Yes, I think I might have to go through with it. I didn’t think I cared that much about my hair (more about my make-up) and was surprised by how disappointed I felt! I definitely want to feel great on the day!
MrsTtoB: I also don’t want to do my own hair. i found some great tutorials, and I could probably have a Bridesmaid or Best Man do it…but it sort of stresses me out. Plus I paid the deposit already for her to come, and the wedding is on an island, so I am a bit limited and can’t really switch.
Fmjxn: Glad to hear your 2nd trial came out better! I’m pretty horrible with make-up, so I definitely need a professional, but that’s awesome that you will be able to get the exact look you want with your expertise!
MrsMY: I think I might just bite the bullet and do it too so I am not stressing. Glad yours came out better!
mgbser: Good idea- I talked to the salon front desk, but maybe I can talk to my actual hair stylist. I’ll see what she says…
