(Closed) 2pm brides–what is your timeline?

I guess, I’m a 2 pm bride since church starts at 2 pm.

1:00-1:30pm – First look at hotel lobby

2pm – 3pm – Church

3:30 – 5:30 pm – Bridal Party will take pictures at the park

[DOC will sent up restaurant during this time]

6:00 pm – Reception

I’m a 1pm bride…  My general timeline will be:

9:00-11:00am – Hair and makeup

11:30-11:45 – Arrive at church

12:00-1:00pm – Getting ready pictures

1:00-2:00pm – Church, send off, etc.

2:00-2:30pm – Family photos in and around church

2:45-5:15pm – Bridal Party Pictures

5:45pm – Arrive at cocktail hour

6:00-7:00pm – Cocktaill hour

7:00-11:30pm – Dinner, dancing, cake cutting, bouquet toss

Marking. We’re planning a 2:00 p.m. ceremony with a reception at 4:00 p.m. (to allow for the ceremony [probably starting late] and for pictures [since we’re in a historical area, I’m imagining lots of pictures and poses]).

We’re having a 1:30 wedding (Mass) and the reception is at the same site right after.  We’re planning to do all of the photos that do not require A and I to be together before, and just the full party and the two of us after. It’s not until January, so I haven’t started worrying about it yet!

7-9 Hair and Makeup
9:30-10:30 First look Pictures and Horse Pictures
10:45-12:45 Bridal Party Pictures
12:45-1 Lunch
1-2 Family Pictures
2:30-3:30 Mass
3:30-5:00 any missed pictures and then some chill time
5-6 Social
6-7:30 Dinner
7:30 – 8 speaches
8 Dance

You might be able to tell I am an ubsessive scheduler.  I need to know what the plan is ahead of time of I get very stessed out so I schedule to every 15 minutes. 🙂

I’m a also 2 pm bride.

10 am to 11 am- Hair and Makeup

11:30 am- Light lunch

1 pm- Leaving the hotel to the church

2pm – 3pm – Church ceremony

3 pm- 4 pm – Church pictures. Guests leave by 4 pm to go to the reception.

4:30 pm to 5:30 pm – Cocktail hour

4:30 pm to 5 pm- Just couple pictures

5:30 pm- Dinner starts

I am a 3pm bride, but this may help:

9:30 godmother hair and makeup

10:00 grandma hair and makeup

10:30 MoB hair and makeup

11:15 bridesmaid hair and makeup

12:00 maid of honor hair and makeup

12:45 bride’s hair and makeup

1:00 pm photographer comes

1:30 get in my dress and getting ready photos

1:30 bridesmaid hair and makeup

1:45 bridal family photos

1:45 Fiance leaves for church. Groomsmen makes sure it is set up and hangs up signs.

2:15 bridal party leaves for church

2:30 Fiance family photos

2:30 bride waits in the classrooms. 

2:45 guests arrive. Programs are handed out

3:00 maternal grandmother enters, paternal grandmother enters, grooms parents enter, mom enters. They light candles

3:05 groom and groomsmen enter, bridesmaids process, flower girl/boy process, dad and process

3:10 mass starts

4:10 mass ends (hopefully!)

4:15 receiving line

4:20 we exit the church and go right to photos (family needs to follow). Groomsmen remove flowers from church

4:25 Groom’s family photos

4:40 Bride’s family photos

4:55 Bridal party group shots

5:00 Cocktail hour starts (for guests)

5:10 bridal party done with photos and sent to cocktail hour

5:40 bride and groom done with photos and head to reception

6:00 reception opens, people seated

6:15 entrance, first dance

6:30 salads served

6:45 dinner served

       speeches

7:15 father/daughter dance

       mother/son dance

        anniversary dance

7:25 regular dancing starts

8:00 cupcake cutting and dessert

8:30 bouquet toss and garter toss

9:00 photographer goes home and music becomes more clubby. 

10:00 party ends. We sleep

5:45-6:15 photos of dinning hall details
6:15 Dining hall opened (sunset)
6:25 parents, wedding party enter
6:35 Bride, Groom enter

Is it just me, or do a lot of brides here seem to be underestimating the amount of time that hair and makeup take?

I’ve been a bridesmaid 4 times and we’ve always had 4 to 5 hours of getting ready time – and have used every minute of it too. I strongly recommend padding the time you think it will take by at least an hour (e.g. if you think it will take 2 hours, time-budget for 3). What if your hair or makeup need to be re-done? Did you plan time to eat? Get photos taken?

I AM one to stress about hair and makeup though, so if you’re really relaxed about that sort of thing then do what you feel is right 🙂
