I realized today while watching my puppy pee happily into the grass that we have not had an accident since our one bad night!
I almost cried with joy because that is so incredible! Knock on wood but I couldn’t be more proud. We got back upstairs and I put away all of the clean puppy pads that remained on the floor 🙂
Any other proud furmama’s with a good dog?

We just got a puppy a few days ago- he is 90% clean on PP pads.
How did you teach him that its ok to pee outside?

@sarah2262: Once our puppy used the potty pads I would watch her during her normal potty times (after eating, waking up, and every two hours) and if she headed towards a pad she was taken outside. Stay out there for as long as needed. If the puppy held herself for a certain length of time (this varied depending on my mood…) I would take her back up and repeat the process if I saw her trying to go on a potty pad or anywhere else. After she finally went outside I gave her a treat and a good girl!
If your puppy constantly holds itself and is sneaking accidents when you aren’t looking then take the potty pad outside with you. Start with a pad that has pee on it already.
Lately I am no longer needing to take the puppy pads down with me!
If our puppy goes a week without more than one accident then I will begin bell training 🙂
Some people don’t like the potty pad method and there are MANY more options out there!
Anyway, congrats mama! 🙂
