- Wedding: September 2010
We are 3 weeks from our wedding today, and I’ve spent most of today in tears.
Our wedding is semi-destination, as we’re getting married in FI’s hometown in Ga. We live in NC, so we have a few friends coming from there, and my family is in NY so they’re also having to travel.
Well, it seems that the accomodations has become an issue of drama. First, FI’s mom said she wanted to pay for my parents & brother w/his Fiance to stay “somewhere nice”. So, we’ve left that to her to take care of. Today, we find out she hasn’t booked anything as of yet, and so we start checking all over town, and everything that is “nice” is full. Ack!!! Heck, even the Holiday Inn Express is full, so we’re scrambling for somewhere to put 4 adults up for 2 nights. Fiance keeps telling me to relax, that his mom will take care of it. But, I’m soooo stressed. I feel like they’re going to end up staying in some nasty motel (there are several in town) because I relied on Future Mother-In-Law to handle this & she didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, she’s done loads of other stuff to help out. But, this is pretty major to have left until last minute….
Then, my other stress is that I have three friends that are coming that are getting on my last nerve about this. One has decided she’s not even going to stay the night in town. Her & her husband are now planning to drive 4 1/2 hrs there, stay for 6 hrs or so for the ceremony & dinner, then drive the 4 1/2 hrs back. Ok, whatever. Next, one friend who is coming by her self actually has made it clear that the hotels in town are not up to her standards. I sent a “recommended accomodations” card w/the invites, with EconoLodge (recently remodeled & very nice), Days Inn & Holiday Inn Express on there. They are all reasonably priced, conveninently located, etc. But, she made the comment that she’s “not EconoLodge material”, then proceeded to book a 2 bedroom villa in town & call all of my other friends to see if someone wanted to split the cost & room w/her. WTH??? And, my 3rd friend has said she’s also looking for somewhere nicer to stay, because her anniversary is that Friday & she feels she & hubby need to have a nicer place that night also. Um…..this is not about you!!!!! I was her Maid/Matron of Honor 5 yrs ago, and was at her beckon call all weekend, and now it’s my freakin’ turn!!!
Grrrrr…..I’m just so frustrated!!
