Hi Destination Wedding brides….anyone out there know if the $300 penalty-free limit on non-clothing goods to Mexico is per person or per couple?
We are getting married in Cancun and I have read other posts where brides had to show receipts for their favors, etc…so that is what I’m doing. My programs alone are going to show as being $225+ and then our wedding favors are $120ish so right there I’m over the limit already.
I got this off of the US Consulate website:
“Mexican regulations limit the value of goods brought into Mexico by U.S. citizens arriving by air or sea to $300 per person and by land to $75 per person. Amounts exceeding the duty-free limit are subject to a 20.58 percent tax. “
It says per person above but I just want to be sure….Has anyone had a Destination Wedding wedding in Mexico and had to go through this with Customs? Do they go through everything, and consider all your wedding supplies like guest book & pen also part of the total? I don’t think I have a receipt for that, sadly….sigh
