MrsWe: that’s really aggressive unless you have more to lose. I was losing 2 lbs / week but once I got down to 23% body fat I was only losing 1 lbs / week. Now that I’m well within normal, I’m maintaining or losing .5 lbs / week.

I’m 2.5 months in and have lost 22 lbs in that time through diet only (I’m 5″7 and a size 14/16). I’m planning on starting to go back to exercising next week after my long weekend getaway with the Fiance 🙂 It seems like you don’t have nearly the weight to lose that I do – already a 6 and wanting to lose 30 lbs seems like a ton to me!  Good luck!

Ya not to be negative but as a size 6 that’s a lofty goal that would have you end up as a size zero?

My best loss was 18 lbs in 6 weeks but it didn’t stay off and I wasnt a size 6.

You’re a size 6 and you want to lose 30 lbs?  That’s a huge % of your total body composition.  You’ll lose a ton of fat and muscle (you can’t lose more than a certain percent of body fat per week without burning muscle too).  I find per 10-15 lbs I lose I drop 2 sizes (6 to 4, or 4 to 2), and I’m a size 4/6.  So I figure you’ll go down to a size 2 more or less.

Well, I’m glad you’re talking to a trainer and a nutritionist (though keep in mind, “nutritionist” actually means nothing… only dietitians are accredited.  Make sure the person you’re talking to is a dietitian!  Nutritionists can tell you all sorts of bull… again, at least in my experience).

Keep that spirit high and I bet you’ll do great. 🙂

MrsWe:  I know different people are proportioned differently but I’m having a hard time imagining how a 5’5″ woman wearing a size 6 could have 30 lbs to lose!

I lost 25 lbs in just over two months, but I had more to lose than you and I will be honest, to do this it took over my whole damn life for that period. I excercised at least 2 hours a day and ate 1000 cals below my TDEE, which was rather painful.

I have maintained the weight loss for just over two months now, and am set to go again, just a little less obsessively.

I’m a 5’3″ woman who wears a size six and if I lost 30 pounds I would be skeletal.

15 in 3 months is Doable. I’ve done it. 20 maybe. Not 30.

I think people are missing that you said 30 pounds of fat.. Losing that amount of fat doesn’t necessarily result in becoming shockingly smaller.

I think your goals are your goals and the person you’re training with knows your body and what’s realistic for you. Good luck!

You might have 30 lbs to lose. I just think 3 months is an unreasonable time frame to do it in a healthy way.
