My Darling Husband is begging for me to confirm what I’d like to do for my 30th birthday but I can’t think of anything. I want to stick pretty local (Sonoma/Napa area) but other than that I don’t have any ideas.
My friends and I aren’t huge drinkers but can appreciate a glass of wine. We aren’t partiers so an all night bash is out of the question. We like food, games and low key evenings but none of that is really 30th birthday bash material. I’m at a dead end.
What would you want to do for your big birthday bonanza?

My husband (then FI) took me to one of my favorite restaurants. That’s it. I don’t hang out with a large group of people. But if you do, why not just a nice dinner?

@Treejewel19: You live in the Napa area???? My SO & I are going on vacation there next year (well techincally we’re flying to California for a cousin’s wedding but I wanted to make a vacation out of it!)
I would probably do a nice dinner or wine tasting. I love wine tasting nights, they’re always just relaxing and enjoyable. I’m not a partier either so I’m not doing anything big for my birthday coming up (24)

@Treejewel19: Why not rent a home semi-locally and have a nice evening/weekend with friends? There are some great places on vrbo.com with pools, game rooms, boccee courts, etc. You could do Napa/Sonoma, or go further to Tahoe, Carmel, Santa Cruz… it’s endless. You could have a nice dinner at the place and just spend time with your friends, like you like to do, but then it’s a little bit more ‘birthday-ish’.
I grew up in Napa and miss it 🙂 It’s not like I don’t visit (almost every weekend, ahem) but it’s not the same!

@Treejewel19: What about a brunch party? Or drinks at a winery in the afternoon followed by a special dinner with your Darling Husband.

I’m suprising Darling Husband with plane tickets to Memphis for bbq and baseball for his 30th birthday. If it were my birthday, I’d probably want to rent a boat for a day and eat/drink with our closet friends.

For my 30th, my SO took me to a concert at Madison Square Garden. We also did a long weekend trip to Montreal as our birthdays are only five days apart. Maybe look for some festivals (jazz or the like) in your area?

I’d suggest a weekend get-away around your birthday.

@Treejewel19: My Darling Husband said he was taking me out of town for my 30th in June… pretty certain we are spending the weekend on the other side of the state and attending a couple Detriot Tigers games 🙂

My husband finally got me to throw out some ideas and here is what he and my aunt have decided. What do you think?
Day: Meet at a local Napa Valley hotel to be picked up by limo. Providing breakfast goodies and mimosas for the limo ride. A few of my closest girlfriends and I will be going on a six hour private limo champagne tour around the valley (three locations) and stop for lunch (restaurant still not decided).
We will be dropped off at the hotel again around 4 pm and will lounge around the pool or in the room until dinner.
Dinner: We have reserved the patio for our private party at my FAVORITE St. Helena restaurant. We are having about 35 friends/family join us for a birthday dinner with pink flowers, linens and votive candles as decor (my aunt’s idea, she knows me well).

That sounds like fun! My 30th bday will be 2 weeks before my wedding, next year.

Sounds awesome! We’re going to Antarctica for my 30th this winter. Love the excuse to splurge 🙂
