Ditch this one.  Mine was the same, told me charting was a waste of time and not accurate.  Told me I didn’t ovulate when there was a clear temp shift just because my cycles were  35-42 days long and a normal cycle with ovulation MUST be 28 days.. told me to do progesterone testing on CD21 no matter what I said.  She’s not my ob anymore.

geniebean14:  Ugh. Get a new OB! TTC can be stressful for some, and the last thing you should have to worry about is a below average OB. Like any other relationship, the relationship that you have with your doctor should feel comfortable and easy. You should feel that they are the expert. If you’re not feeling it, move on. 🙂

I personally never trust a “professional” who has not heard of reasonably popular items (in this case pre-seed. ok, she may not have known what it is but then she should have looked it up later/suggested a good alternative) within their field.

It would be like going to the Apple Store and finding a worker who had never used an iPhone. You wouldn’t trust them.

geniebean14:  Yes, if you have a 28 day cycle and O on 14, then you should do progesterone test on CD21.  Someone like me, who O’s around CD21-25 would do the testing around CD27 like your doc is suggesting.  CD 26 test would indicate nothing for your cycles.

I’d probably skip the OB, and ask for a referrall to a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) or fertility specialist.  Although you are younger than 40, most doctors recommend seeing a specialist after 6 months of trying if you are over 40.  It can take several months to get an appointment with one, so I’d start the process now.

Although, on the flip side, my RE / OB-GYN’s did not recommend temping / charting – just OPKs.  Not sure why!
