I am afraid that that will look costumey and ostentatious with your fingers being that small. If your ring size was 10, it would probably not look bad at all.

If your heart is set on 3ct, why not just get a  solitaire, or else get the 3ct with some side stones on the band? For the same money, you could probably get an excellent quality 2ct with halo and side stones, or a near perfect 2ct solitaire.

I have nothing against people’s right to wear huge stones. But IMO there’s a point you reach where it starts to look worse, not better, the bigger you get.

Honestly, I think it’s all a matter of personal taste. If you like big and sparkly, go for it. But it WILL be a statement piece of jewelry.

It really depends on your style but 3 cts plus a halo is way too large for my taste. I would go for 1.5 cts or smaller with a halo or a 2 ct solitare.

@kaygeekg2011:  when you say that it won’t be a diamond, do you mean it will be a gemstone or moissy?

gemstones are much more dense than diamonds, therefore, the size will appear smaller than an average 3 ct diamond.

i think it will look fine on a size 6 finger.  go try them on and see how you like it.  you are the one wearing it.

I love bling so I would say go for it. There are tons of rings on pricescope that are 3 ct plus on size 3-5 fingers that I think are gorgeous. I don’t know if I personally could justify spending that much on it, but it would look amazing I’m sure!

edit: I thought you said it would be a diamond. What are you planning to use for a center stone? Many gemstones look even smaller than a diamond of 3 ct so that will change some answers also.

It’s all a matter of opinion of course, but I agree with you that that size doesn’t look costumey. I also think that the higher the number of carats, the harder it is to tell the difference in size (although I have no actual evidence of this, ha!), so a 3ct to me sounds bigger than it looks, if that makes sense. Could you maybe go try some on in a store just to see what it looks like? But if you love it (and I certainly do), then go for it! And share pics if you do! 😀

I’m a size 6. In my opinion  I would feel uncomfortable with  me wearing a 3ct ring. Especially where I live, church, volunteer work, etc. plus I would be hard on it and it would get in my way. I think it would also look like a cocktail ring especially since my ring is a sapphire and that’s what i would want. But if you love it more power to you. Rock it! 🙂

That would be way too much for me.
