So about 4 weeks ago, I was visitnig CA and we were walking on the beach. I stepped on a bee – yes a bee! – at the ocean. My foot swelled up so much I couldn’t wear shoes or walk normally for 10 DAYS. I was on vacation – so that pretty much sucked. But I managed to hobble around and sight see – I was really trying to make the best of it but I was in pain. My two nurse sisters said it was fine if it was localized (aka not travelling up my leg).
Two weeks after that, I’m back home and I squat down in the kitchen to pet my dog. I’ve squatted a millions times before, but this time something POPS and my knee is in pain and it gives out. I was on crutches for two days but then I was able to walk on it. After two weeks, it seems like it’s all back to normal. So weird. I would have gone to the doc if I weren’t able to walk on it, but now I am.
Two weeks after the knee thing, I’ve decided I am healthy enough to go back to working out. The next day, I had a huge fall. I was at a friend’s house, I tripped over some toys and I fell on more toys – rather violently! Remember the grape stomping reporter video on YouTube? Yeah, that was the sound I made but longer and worse. I could not get up, I could not breathe, I bruised my thigh so I limp now. I really thought I broke a rib (landed on some toy trains). My H took me to the ER where I was in pain and each breathe was horrible. Turns out it was not broken, but man does it still hurt even right now! I took the day off from work.
I’m on drugs right now, so not really up for anything fun or even visitors to play games, but MAN, what the heck is going on? Ski season is starting and I’m getting lazy and out of shape with all these injuries!
If I were being super cautious, as if I were walking barefoot on a floor of nails – like that kind of careful, I could have avoided all three accidents, but that’s not a normal way to navigate everyday life!
