AFTERNOON!   4 is still afternoon.   6 is the beginning of “evening”!

Google wedding invitation wording, there is a lot of good information out there. Technically, according to wedding etiquette, evening does not start until 6pm. So it’s “four o’clock in the afternoon”

I am having a five o’clock wedding but I want it to be casual so I said “five o’clock in the afternoon”.  I read that if I wanted people to know that it was going to be formal to put “five o’clock in the evening”.

I agree with afternoon – 6 is the technical start of “evening”
