Oh lord. So, it’s an ongoing thing here in the Bunny Household for Kid Bunny to beg me, Mama Bunny, for a sibling. This morning’s latest attempt went something like this:
KB: Mama? Can you buy me a brother?
KB: Can you see if there’s a family that doesn’t want their kid anymore and buy him for me to have as a brother?
MB: No, honey, we don’t participate in Human Trafficking.
It usually twists my ovaries when he begs for a sibling, because I ache to have more children, but due to life circumstances it’s not possible for another 5-10 years. But this also made me sad for a few more reasons. One, sad that even with all his friends at school and his relatives on his father’s side, he still feels lonely. Two, because somehow he figured we could just acquire a child. And three, that he believes there are families out there who get tired of their children and would sell them off!
I don’t know if he’s just pulling ideas out of the air or if he really believes those scenarios. I feel like this conversation was funny on its face but also a little bit sad!

LoL! That is pretty funny and cute! Who knows if he is lonely though, maybe he is just jealous of his friends at school?

@elysion: You may be on to something… I know his friends at school have siblings, he’s talked about them before. But he has been trying to get me to give him a brother for MONTHS. Ay yi yi!

Oh this was so cute! Kids really do say the darndest things! When I was his age I used to pray to God for a baby sister in my prayers at night, and my mom would be so pissed. Especially, since my sister actually ended up being an unplanned pregnancy.
Perhaps a new puppy will distract him from the sibling thing for a while. I hear it’s working for my 3 year old niece. . .

@Omgbunnies: kids are adorable. my son used to ask for a sister all of the time. i think b/c all of his friends and cousins had 2+ kids in the family. i, however, was a single mother so that wasn’t going to happen. finally, when he was 7, he asked for a kitten instead. done. we got one right away and my son never asked again. btw, we had the cat for 18 years.

@mypinkshoes: We got the puppy. Did not help. Though she is now the family “daughter” lol he loves her but I think the dog kind of annoys him at times because we treat her like a baby. HMMM, kid! Not making Mommy too confident in your big brothering skills! Lol.
And yeah, for all intents and purposes I’m a single mom, too. I’ve got my SO who should be fiance this time next year, but we don’t live together and we can’t get married til I finish school 5 years from now. And next time around I want to be married before another kid, ha!

@Omgbunnies: dogs are a lot more work than cats. lol, regarding the big brother skills. i know what you mean about timing on another child. unfortunately, it never happened for me (medical reasons). my son has enjoyed being an only child and the house was always quiet and clean.
