I’m turning to the hive because I’m currently stuck for ideas. We have two surprise 40th anniversary parties to attend in one weekend during July. The first is for my FI’s aunt & uncle who we see usually once every year or two. The second is for his “uncle” and his wife – really his dad’s best friend from childhood who earned the nickname uncle. We don’t regularly see them, but we did attend a wedding celebration for his son last year and have since been to a small dinner they hosted.
Money isn’t super tight, but we’re not exactly rolling in it at the moment due to several thousand dollars in home repairs. In other words, we won’t be able to shower them in rubies.
I do like the idea of sticking with the ruby anniversary theme, but I don’t know either couple well enough to think if there’s something red they might enjoy. All I have thought of so far is to maybe go get a decent sized basket and fill it with a few bottles of mid-range red wines. I thought about making it a little more special by getting wines from their home county (they all grew up together), but there are only two wineries in the area. Plus, while I’ve seen them all drink at social events, I’m not sure how often they drink on their own.
So, Bees, have any other brilliant ideas that won’t completely break the bank? I’d love any inspiration.
