and Valentine’s Day! He did it! He did it! He did it! Cross #19 off the list!
After confusing me for WEEKS, and waiting a YEAR and a HALF, my now FI(!!!!!!) Proposed!
So, He got out of work early and I met him at a rest area that’s kinda become our meeting spot if we’re heading to South Jersey for anything (like when we went to AC and bought my Ering… which glitters while I type! 🙂 ) and I had no idea where we were headed.
There were 3 dozen different colored roses (gorgeous!) in the backseat, but he wasn’t in a rush to point them out (altho it was kind of hard to miss them! lol) so I figured we weren’t exchanging gifts yet. He needed to look up the address on his GPS, so I punched in the address while he drove. We ended up in Hammonton, NJ and had dinner at a cute little Italian Restaurant. When dinner was over I checked my phone while I was walking to the bathroom… knowing all my friends were asking if he had popped the question yet lol and they were. So I wrote them all back saying not yet, I’ll let them know after it happens.
We get back in the car and I gave him my gifts for him (Cufflinks in the shape of his last Initial, a Travel Suit bag, travel tie case, and travel shoe bags… all things I figure he’ll need getting ready for the wedding eventually!). Then he heads South… I live in Bergen County, NJ All the way up north. So I was a little puzzled. Then we started weaving through farm country, passed through the town of Salem, NJ. I had a lightbulb moment! I remembered how he had said he wanted to propose in Bryn Mawr, PA so I knew we were headed there… until we got onto the Delaware Memorial Bridge and crossed over into Delaware.
I was scratching my head lol it was about 10:30pm and I knew it was going to happen on Valentine’s Day… THIS YEAR. We passed through Wilmington, DE and got onto Route 95 Heading North. Then we crossed into Pennsylvania (A state I used to live in before I met him, and hated) and passed through Philadelphia, and then went to Bryn Mawr, PA. At this point it was 11:15pm and I just knew this was it… until he pulled over and punched in a new address into the GPS and we were racing the clock.
Now I used to live in the Great North East in Philly (a little area called Mayfair), Philly was ok, but it wasn’t my cup of tea (and my roommate was an @$$ who didn’t pay the bills with the money I left him, and we got kicked out) and I moved to a small town called Trevose (even more North and East of Philadelphia) I made him promise he wasn’t going to propose in either of those areas, because I didn’t want to have to say he proposed there lol. So when we headed back into Philly and up Roosevelt Blvd (aka Route 1) I was getting nervous. At 11:52 we missed a turn and had to take the next street (and were just about in Trevose) but then managed to get back on the right road. Then he pulls over on this residential block in Bensalem, PA, plays around with his phone for a minute and then at 11:58pm he gets out and walks over to my door, gets down on one knee hands me the ring box and asks me “Will you spend the rest of my life with me?” I said “What do you mean just your life?” he laughed and edited it and I said Yes, Yes, Yes and put the ring on my finger at exactly 12:00 lol
It turns out he planned that whole entire road trip to throw me off, and delay it until 11:59pm… AND while we were at dinner he tagged me in a post on FB stating “Loving life” and then Right before he got out of the car? He was ‘checking in’ on FB at a local motel to prove we were not in Philadelphia or Trevose and were in fact in Bensalem… that post said “Best moment of my life” 🙂 All in all it was so us, and it was so perfect. Even down to the last second lol. And now that you’ve read all this way down… here are the pics!
There she is, my 3ct Heart Cut Rose de France Amethyst set in Rose Gold with Diamond Accents 🙂
