@ncbellle:  I tried on the second one, the tea-length with the bolero, and absolutely LOVED it on.  I’m a size 20, age 51.  It was really flattering and I came thisclose to buying it, but ended up going with a second-hand dress that I loved a teeny bit more!

Allure has a “Modest” Collection and a “Women” Collection, The Modest all have sleeves and the Women are all for Plus sized ladies 🙂

This is my fave Allure Dress from the Women’s Collection ^^

Try on anything that you like, and don’t be afraid to let your consultant suggest dresses.  She does this all the time, for all ages, body types, sizes, etc and knows what she’s talking about.

I am 41, plus-size, and this will be my second marriage.  My dress breaks absolutely EVERY rule in that silly video.  It’s form-fitting, strapless, and has a chapel-length train.  And, honestly, it is nothing I would have picked out for myself.  Score one for my consultant.

Have fun with it; just because we’re not 20 anymore doesn’t mean that we can’t get excited like those “younger” brides do!

Ohhhhhhhh dear I too am 40 year old bride , first time too and trust me this was not how it was ment to be lol . I have had a bit of advice from sylists and very fashion foward friends ……debates aswell . What advice I got was this keep it simple ad sparkle with acessories ……..stay away from lace and bling etc . The younger brides can rock that I know and look awesome . Also lets face it white Ivory is not that flattering so if your not over the top about white consider blush or champange etc I am going blush and feel super bridal in it . try on dresses to find the cut that is right for you , then find the dress ……ohhhhh and go for elegant cuts that are fantastical …..it’s all about the cut and add a bolero if worried about arms as well all do 🙁

unixfairy:  I have to say I knwo the video means well, but really the advice bees give here , ie keep an open mind and try on all sorts of shapes and fabrics and  silhouettes  is far better.

Plus I know its  petty of me, but I can’t stand the way she pronounces Empire as Ompeer. Bet she doesn’t pronounce Notre Dame the French way.
