i’m from MA and live in LA now, but i’m coming home for christmas and planning on going dress shopping at home with my mom.
i’m looking for a 50s style tea length dress. i’m open to vintage, but i’d rather go somewhere where i can try on several dresses, so i’m leaning to new.
does anyone have any local suggestions? we’re in north reading, but are open to anything a reasonable drive from there…

The best place I know for 50s style tea length wedding dresses is uniquevintage.com, which is based in california. Davids Bridal has a really nice line of tea-length wedding dresses.

@Annabelle86: so funny you should say that… unique vintage is down the street from me in LA. however, my mom wants to be part of my wedding dress shopping and she is in massachusetts… i may just have to make her come here!

If you decide to go vintage, I recommend Cafe Society in Brookline: http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-society-brookline (they don’t always have wedding-style dresses, but they have great customer service and can keep an eye out for you!). Some of the Second Time Around locations have wedding gowns, but not that great of a selection.
I don’t know how much stock they have in that style, but I’ve heard good things about the selection at Vows Bridal Outlet in Watertown: http://www.bridepower.com/VisitStore.aspx
It’s a farther drive, but I had a great experience when I visited Brides 2 Be in Glastonbury, CT http://bridestobe-cons.com/ It’s a bridal consignment shop, so most of the dresses are newer, but I saw some older dresses there. I would definitely call first though and find out if they have anything tea-length.
