How long are you planning to have your Honeymoon for? like how many days?

I love, love, love cruises. There’s so much to do, but you can still just nap in the sun if you want to, plus you get to see so many more places. And the food is usually amazing, and you have so many opportunities to try new things.

My favorite cruise was actually to Alaska–it’s so bizarre sunbathing in a warm, sunny, glass-enclosed pool deck while there are glaciers and snow-capped mountains passing you by outside, plus whale pods and otters so close to the ship.

@HeLovesDogs:  Not sure if this is possible… but Fiance and I have a similar problem. I am le lazy, and after all the wedding planning, I sure as hell don’t want to be running around. I want to lie on a beach and have drinks brought over… BUT Fiance likes people and new places/things… so (I’m not sure where) but we’re going to do a combination. Likely a shorter (3-5 day) cruise and either start that off or end it with a couple (2-3) days wherever the port is.
Would it be an option to do like.. a carribbean cruise that leaves from florida somewhere, and do like a few days doing amusement park/touristy orlando stuff? or something…

I don’t think I’d want to do a cruise on my honeymoon.  My husband and I actually got a timeshare for free (through our church) and stayed in Breckenridge, CO, a few hours from our home.  We just wandered around town, stayed in, went to nearby small towns, had just a nice, relaxing time after all of the craziness of the wedding.  I think the most we spent on our honeymoon was about $200 at the high end, and that is because we purchased some new sandles for me and new shorts for him.

I’d go for the more relaxing.  There is just so much going on with cruises, and you have to do the safety drills and whatnot.  We were going to do an Alaskan cruise, but then I really just wanted an affordable, quiet getaway.  It was going to be stressful enough with the wedding and being newly married without adding a flight and a lot of people around us on top of that.

So that said, if you can’t agree on either one or the other, maybe you should try to compromise on a third option?

I say go for the cruise!!! You want to be in a pool and relax? well your still going to have days at Sea. Those are the days to be lazy at the pool and get some sun. I think the cruise it a great option because you get to see so much, and they have a ton of shows & clubs on the ship too. you will never get bored.

@HeLovesDogs:  I’ve been on several, and I would highly recommend it if you like resort-type vacations, seeing a lot of different things, and are sure you don’t get sea-sick. There’s usually a mix of days “at port” in particular places, so you can get off the ship and explore or do excursions, and “at sea” days where you just have down-time on the ship. And downtime is a pretty loose term, since most cruise ships have multiple restaurants, bars, casinos, movie theaters, shopping malls, swimming pools, rock climbing, mini golf…I actually don’t get around to doing much of the extra stuff on the ship because I’d prefer to do stuff I can’t do at home. It’s all prepaid, though. I actually went back to Alaska for a few weeks a while after the cruise to spend more time there.

@HeLovesDogs:  Whoops, Alaska is definitely not the place to be in January. It would be perfect in June, though! I’ve loved the Caribbean cruises I’ve been on, though I also loved the Bahamas for the local color and natural beauty. Whether you do a cruise or not, the hands-down best experiences I’ve ever had in the tropics are swimming with dolphins, para-sailing, and scuba diving, and I would highly recommend making time to do them if you can.

I love cruises and I really want to try Oasis of the Seas but I don’t think i would cruise on my honeymoon for the simple fact that you are kind of stuck to a schedule. Dinner is at a certain time and if you want to get off the boat you have to do it at a certain time…thats just my opinion though. overall i love cruises.

I know this wasn’t on your list of desinations but you should look at Couples Swept Away in Negril Jamaica. The resort is AMAZING and the beach is like nothing i’ve ever seen before – the food is great and the staff is really friendly. Its unlike any AI resort i’ve been to. They also offer tons of free excursions like scuba, snorkling etc….so your hubby will have some stuff to do as well. they list all the included stuff on their website. you should check it out. we flew direct for 7 nights for just under 5k and we booked really late and during valentines week so i’m sure you can even get it for cheaper.

Well, if it helps I think it’s going to be tough to find a decent AI in St. Lucia/Bahamas/Grand Cayman for 5k! (depending on how long you’re going for)  We just did all our honeymoon research on a similar budget!

Have you ever been on a cruise? Depending how many days at sea you have – they can be a good combo of relaxation and excursions – when you’re on the boat there’s nothing else to do but relax!

The only down side of a cruise I would say is that alcohol is not included so if you guys are big drinkers, you’ll definitely end up spending a great deal on booze (the drinks aren’t cheap!)

@HeLovesDogs:  Well that is pretty awesome! i didn’t know they did that on cruises! that is good to know. Last time we went on a cruise we had a 6:30 dinner time and we were always running late haha.
