@totheislnds: haha yeah its something I hadn’t seen on other cruises before! They offer the traditional dining with the set dinner time, but you can also do the flex dining.
@MrsWBS: I’ve pretty much found the same in my research! That’s why the cruise idea was so appealing because it was def. in our budget even with a balcony room! One thing I do like about the Oasis is you are not docking everyday…there are 2 or 3 days where you are at sea, so it’d be nice to just relax those days!

We did a cruise for our honeymoon and it was great! We’re going on a cruise for our anniversary in December too. I love the balance of ports days and days at sea. On the sea days, there was no pressure to stick to a schedule–we could do as much or as little as we wanted. It was very relaxing.
They’re also really economical, even with flights you should probably come in under your budget and you could probably book some fun excursions.

You can do both with a cruise. When you go to an island, you can go off to a beach and just relax.
To be honest, I found the food on cruise ships MUCH better than any AI that I have been to as well.

I can relate. I’d love to do a beach honeymoon and do nothing but sit around and relax. Unfortunately, my Fiance can’t sit still for anything…lol. He would seriously die of boredom on a beach with hardly anything to do. In your case, I’d probably choose the cruise. Like someone else said, when you’re on the boat it’s nothing but laying around and relaxing (unless at night you want to go see shows, etc). The excursions will give your Fiance the “stuff” he wants to do, and the days at sea will give you your relaxation.

@starfish0116: your right…there are direct flights from where we are to ft lauderdale so with flights, cruise fare, drinks and excurions we’re looking at coming right to budget and that’s if we splurge on the excursiosn which Fiance would love to do…thanks for the help- feeling much better about the cruise idea! We do have our lives to splurge on a super vaca down the road at one of the AI resorts I’ve been daydreaming about 😉

The other thing is that at AI’s there are always a TON of activities going on. You do not have to just sit on the beach all day either.
There are tons of excursions, activities on the beach etc. There is beach volleyball, water polo, dance lessions, language classes, bingo, plus all the optional excursions.
It is also all included, so all you can drink and eat. Which to me is better then a cruise.

Personally I don’t want to go on a cruise for my honeymoon. They are great, but i didn’t want to be on a time table. Having to constantly check my watch to get back on the boat is not relaxing to me. But I so want to take one with my Fiance on a anniversary! Me, I could sit on the beach with a drink in hand and stare at the water 7 days in a row. Fiance, not so much. He wants a little more action. We are seriously considering Punta Cana, DR. Beautiful beach, and lots to do. Snorkeling, Scuba, Full day Dune Buggy guided tours where you can swim in caves! So we get the best of both worlds. And all you can drink is a plus too 🙂
Truth is we could plan a honeymoon in a tent in the backyard and I would be in heaven. 🙂
