I need your help. I want to have a wedding with a budget of $5000. I want to have it in a lounge setting with lounge funiture, just appetizers, drinks, and desserts. No sit down dinner for at least 150 guest. I live in south jersey area. Any suggestions and ideas please write back. Thank you.

150 is going to be hard to do. Cut the list down, then you won’t have to skimp so much. 150 is a lot to have for a cocktail party.

It’s definitely going to be hard. We are also having a cocktail reception, with no sit down dinner, for 142 people, and our budget is $65k. You can definitely do it cheaper than us, but $5k is going to be tough! Good luck!

@morkiemama: You are spending $65K and not serving dinner?! Pls tell us where that mola is going.

Lol, we are serving dinner, but it’s just not a typical seated dinner or buffet style. Instead they have passed and plated hors d’oeuvres, an anti pasta station, a pasta station, a salad station, and several meat stations. The stations are open for several hours, they replace food as needed. It isn’t really any cheaper than the buffet style, we just preferred the method and layout better.
The major parts of the money breaks out to:
flower upgrades (centerpieces were included in our venue package, but we wanted something bigger) $3.5k
DJ – $1.5k
DOC – $1.4k
lighting – $3k
Then there’s programs, invites, etc etc etc
You can definitely do it WAY less expensive than we did, but I think 5k is going to be difficult in the area for that many people. Not impossible though!

@morkiemama: LOL ok. So you are serving dinner. Dinner and beyond really.
OP – What I think you should do is maybe look into a brunch option? Have a simple sweet ceremony, and then take your party to a private room of a restaurant and serve simple breakfast options.

Ok, actually I lied – here is an option that might work for you. Another Bee posted it in a different thread – I don’t know how much the whole ceremony plus reception would cost, but this option is between $850 – $1,000:
This is the basic ceremony and includes all of the elements of the first tier with the following accommodations: use of the site for two hours with up to 30 guests. This extra time will allow for both a champagne toast and wedding cake reception*. Price: $700.00. This event can be held indoors or outdoors. Up to 45 guests, $850.00. Up to 60 guests, $1,000.00
And it’s at a lighthouse, what’s not to love? Here’s the link: http://www.abseconlighthouse.org/Main/weddings.asp
