@belinda.conklin.6056:  I am very sorry!  How complicated!  Which country could you legally get married in?  Anywhere?  I’d do that and just get the legal stuff out of the way.  Then continue on with your wedding as planned in 5 weeks.  You could then have a family member officiate the wedding since it will be more of a symbolic wedding.

There are plenty of US couples that go to Mexico or Paris to “marry,” but they do all the legal ceremony stuff in the US before or after their trip.  The foreign weddings are more of a symbolic wedding, but to most that is their real wedding date.

legal representative from thailand told you what papers you had to get. you got them, sent them

youre now waiting for an answer from the maldives ministry of foreign affairs?or the maldives consulate?

i have a friend who works in a different maldives consulate (or embassy i forget which) who i can ask about the process if that would help?

That’s awesome that you can help, @newname_99!

@belinda.conklin.6056:  I hope you can get this worked out. I think our Destination Wedding will be pretty easy because its just between the US and the UK, but initially when we were thinking of a Destination Wedding and weren’t sure on location, I was worried about this. It just sucks that you had no clue this would be a problem until more recently. I hope you get it worked out!

@belinda.conklin.6056:  i PM’d you with my friends email, she said she’d try to help out if she could. dont get stressed, you still have a bit of time before you definitely have to cancel. fingers crossed for you!
