- Wedding: June 2013
So Darling Husband and I got married on the 28th of June and had a wonderful photographer who we were very happy with (we spent a lot of money on this because the photos are so important to us).
We were told when we booked with them that our photos would be ready in about 10 weeks. Then, about 4 weeks in we get an email from the photographer saying her father was dying and she would be flying back and forth between visiting with him and shooting weddings so as not to let anyone down who had already booked. Therefore there would be an additional 6-8 week wait for photos. This is obviously something that is unavoidable and we have been very sympathetic to this unfortunate situation and never complained about the additional delay. But then after hearing nothing for about another 4 weeks we get an email from her new assistant that said her father had passed away two weeks ago and “there may be further delays”. When I questioned her about this she said she would be sitting down with the photographer shortly and would get back to me “by the end of this week or I promise early next week”. another 10 days go by and I haven’t heard back from her so I email her again and ask for an ETA of our photos and she replied saying that she has still not had an opportunity to sit down with the photographer and work out when ours (and others) photographs would be ready but had been told that it should be before christmas. That means we are looking at nearly 6 months between our wedding and getting our pictures.
i don’t really know what to do from here. I feel sorry for the photographer and the situation she is in but I also think 6 months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait.
what would you do if you were me? (Before you answer this question please take a moment to actually imagine if you had to wait 6 months to get your wedding photos back).
im also concerned if I start putting pressure on for them to get them done they may rush and they won’t be edited properly. I was disappointed with the thank you cards they did for us for this exact reason. (It took over 6 weeks to get these done)
