Called my Venue to speak with my coordinator and was told she and her assistant no longer work there. When i asked who was in charge of weddings at the venue I was transferred to the current person. I give her my name and she asked if I had an event already planned. I said yes.. my wedding in 6 weeks. Guess what… IT WASNT EVEN BOOKED!!!! I panic…of course. So She has me come down there. After 3 hours.. we figure it all out.. Than goodness I had reciepts for EVERYTHING!!! former coordinator didnt have it booked, had our names in the computer but only as guests with no room booked.
Venue just chamged ownership. Former coordinator and her assistant were taking Deposit $ from several brides. fluffing the books and the venue was losing money to the point that it was sold to the current owner. The current owners are NOT obligated by law to honor any of the weddings under previous ownership, esp because theres no paper trail to most. However the new owners would rather take a financial hit and moral aspect and are honoring all weddings, paper trail or not. I was charged a 500 site fee but it was supposed to be 2500. I was charged 2500 deposit and that goes towards my larger over all price. In total were paying about 6000 for the venue (all inclusive) but should have been charged 16,000.
ARGH! Cannot take anymore stress right now. All this happened the same day my Dads dr said that they are going to do a bladder removal (cancer issue) one month before my wedding. Yay for it being taken out but he’s concerned about how he will be at the wedding.

Wow, that was quite a scare there, I would have had a heart attack! Sounds like you need to go do a spa day or get a mani/pedi and have some chill out time from all the stress! If you have a day free, drive up to Glenn Ivy (My family is from SoCal so I know the area…)

Crazy huh?!?! lol
I called my Fiance and was hysterical, he couldnt even understand me. I had him meet me at our venue because I didnt know what kind of state I’d be in lol. I was fine after first hour. It really makes me mad that there are people out there like that. Its a pretty emotional thing to screw with but it’s also perfect for scam artists.
I vote for a spa day too! :). I’m about 90 mins north of Glenn Ivy :). I’m a self employed massage therapist (small co 🙂 ) so I booked with one of my employees that night.

Wow! I know I would have gone crazy! That poor event planner on the phone… but I’m sure she will have to calm other brides down too once they hear the news… I’m sorry that you had to go through all of that. But on the plus side, you did get to pay less for your venue and are now saving a lot more money 🙂
And since you have already treated yourself to a massage… you can use the rest of your money for something fun for your fiance and you… perhaps a night on the town and just laugh about this ….. get all of that stress out (perhaps try a comedy club? A comedy movie?)
