SO and I went to a wedding this weekend where his nephew was the ring bearer. At the reception I’m sitting with SO and his family when his 6 year old nephew comes running up (he had just finished taking pictures with the wedding party) and rattled off “Uncle this is a nice wedding huh?! When are you and ScenicRoute getting married? Can I be your guys ring bearer?” I just started cracking up and changed the subject by telling him he did such a great job as a ring bearer and asked him what he wanted to eat. After the reception SO told me that was the 4th time his nephew has questioned him on our wedding plans in front of SO’s parents. This is a bit awkward because we have discussed our future/timeline/plan but we both agreed we wouldn’t mention our plans to his family until we have the ring. SO’s mother can be a little over the top. I love her but she’s really needy and we want to hold off on her involvement as long as we can. Only problem is his nephew overheard SO and I talk about wedding stuff a couple months ago and he isn’t letting it go. Never underestimate a 6 year olds ability to eavesdrop. We had no idea he was listening to our conversation until he started publicly questioning us. Got to love children.
