- Wedding: June 2014
(Edit: I tried to resize the pics and now they’re all disproportional, I’ll see if I can fix it)
We got engaged in October 2012, and those 20 months flew by. Weddingbee was definitely helpful along the way. Our wedding was amazing and I wish I could live in it forever. We had a ton of people tell us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to, and it was definitely the best I’ve ever been to!
Things I am soooo glad we did:
First look, Trolley for wedding party (so much fun), had all our friends and family instead of cutting down like we thought about, got a videographer 3 weeks before the wedding for a couple hundred bucks really glad we did, Photobooth (biggest hit of the night, I had no idea, we won it at a church auction and it was packed all night. The photos are hilarious), Open bar, Two dresses (everyone loved them and it was a lot easier to dance), ordered 10 Domino’s pizzas right before our sparkler exit (they were gone in seconds lol), the sparkler exit, and ending the party at 11pm that was definitely late enough for everyone. Our wedding was so much better than I could have ever asked for. I’m so glad I didn’t stress too much or spend too much on one day.
Things that didn’t go so well:
Thunderstorms (what can ya do?), family all left for the reception right after the bubble exit so we didn’t get any formal pictures of the whole family :/ still upset, but again what can ya do?
We started out the day getting ready at my parents, complete with heavy rain and thunderstorms. Heres some getting ready pics
Ceremony dress – Ella Rosa, $400.
We were suppose to go to a pretty garden for our first look, but it was still pouring. Soo we decided to go to the reception hall and take pictures in there. The moment we were getting ready to do the first look, it cleared up to nothing but sun, so we decided to go ahead and try outside. I was actually a lot less nervous than I thought I’d be. I just wanted to see him already! Highly recommend first look, made the day go sooo much better and easier, best decision we made. So here’s the first look.
and the wedding party
It did not rain a drop until we boarded the trolley to head to the ceremony. I couldn’t believe it.
We did more pictures with the wedding party & our parents & siblings at the church. Then we did our gift exchange. I’d been waiting for this for awhile. I kept a jounal our entire 20 month engagement and he never once knew about it until I gave it to him at the wedding. I think he was surprised 😉 these are some of my favorite pictures because he is not an emotional person
Then we were onto the ceremony..during the ceremony I could just barely hear the torando sirens were going off in the connected school. Our ceremony was great though. It was in the church my parents were married in and I was baptised and confirmed in (by our officiant) and he had everyone cracking up the whole service.
Then we had a receiving line. It was us and our parents, we had ~250 guest and it only took 25 minutes. After that we had a bubble exit. We had the receiving line inside because it was still pouring. Once it was over, the rain stopped, we had a DOUBLE RAINBOW waiting for us during our bubble exit. It was awesome, some guests got photos of it.
Then we boarded the trolley and headed straight to the reception. I’ll do some detail shots first
We walked in to “Hot in Herre” by Nelly. The wedding party had a blast with that, but I’ll spare you all the twerking lol
We made a last minute change to our first dance and danced to “Who I Am With You” by Chris Young
Then I bawled like a baby dancing with my dad to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw
Then the dancing begun! My dad tore up the dance floor all night. He’s know for his dancing skills (watch the video if you want). But the dance floor was packed all night and soo much fun. Oh, I also changed into my second dress after the first dances!
Dad and brother dancing to “Can’t Touch This” and “Thriller” everyone loved it.
The Tuesday after we left for our honeymoon to Excellence Playa Mujeres. It was paradise and I would have stayed forever if I could. Totally recommened going there and the two-story private pool suites.
Here’s our photographer’s blog of our photos:
