I say when in doubt, go bigger (if you can).  I’d imagine not too many women say “man, I wish I’d chosen a smaller diamond.”  Anyway, mine’s just over a carat… not sure of exact measurements, but the diamond itself goes really deep into the setting so the surface area could possibly be larger if you didn’t get such a deep stone.  But man, she sparkles like nothing I’ve ever seen ๐Ÿ™‚

Mine is a 0.63 ct oval diamond for the center stone.  I love oval diamonds.  I say if you have a choice though…. go bigger.  lol

I have a cushion, not oval– but I’m going to third the suggestion to go bigger if possible. I just don’t believe that anyone ever wishes they had a smaller stone ๐Ÿ™‚

Here it is showing my full hand with the band and my fiance’s band as well.  I wear a size 6 ring…. just for reference.

@Jill0212: Your ring is gorgeous!

My oval is 0.79 carats…but it’s a sapphire.  I’ve heard it’s different in size than a 0.79 carat diamond, but…

@CorgiTales: I agree with go bigger as long as you aren’t making a large sacrifice in quality (i.e. visible inclusions or color issues).

@Kant Oohh. You have to post pictures when you get it. I’ve been wanting to see an oval moissanite! Are you getting an enhanced or normal stone?

And I agree, go bigger!

FWIW, I just looked up the exact dimensions of mine on the paperword…7.03 mm length, 5.10 mm width 1.38 l/w ratio.
