Hi Ladies
This is my first ever post – I’ve been lurking for a while. I’m already married, coming up two years, and we are changing my rings.
Ive always wanted a solitaire and have decided on a round moissanite on a thin yellow gold band, but have been debating for so long what size to go for – 7.5mm (1.5 carat equiv) or 8mm (2 carat equiv). I am a UK M which I’ve been told is the equivalent of a U.S. 6?
I’ve been to a couple of places to try rings on but not many have this size of stone or in the style I’m looking for.
Could you pleeeease post your 1.5 and 2 carat solitaire pics especially if you are around a size 6?
Thanks!

Wow that’s gorgeous @almostmrslev! Thank you for posting. I was concerned an 8mm would look too big but yours looks perfect on your hand

I have a 1.5 carat/7.5 mm moissanite and I’m a size 5.5. I think it’s the perfect size for me! ๐

I have a 7.5mm on a size 6.75 finger.. I wish I had gone a bit bigger, so I say go for the 8mm.

I have a 1ct on a size 8 finger, so I won’t bother posting. But it’s always interesting to see UK bees!

Hmm, from all that I’ve heard/seen on the Bee, rings in the UK are generally smaller on average than rings in the US. So an 8mm will likely garner a great deal of attention over there. If that’s cool with you, then go for it! I’d personally probably go on the smaller side to not stand out too too much.

TheGridMonster you are correct, generally rings here in the UK are much smaller and simpler than in the US. Most engaged girls I know my age (26, kinda pushing it with ‘girls’ eh) have a simple solitaire, round or princess cut. In my social circle roughly a carat (diamond) is the norm, however my fingers are kinda chubby looking and for some reason rings always look bigger on others, so a carat looks pretty small on me. I don’t want to go TOO big, but still want something that suits my hand, something ‘just right’. I’m swaying towards the 7.5mm but I worry that I will get it and wish I’d gone bigger!

I have learned to always go to the larger size, when in doubt. And I think 8mm looks good on pretty much everyone.

Laura_Emm: I wanted to comment so I can come back to this thread. I’m kind of wondering the same thing. I’m looking for a 2-2.5 ct amora gem on a 6 finger.
