- Wedding: October 2013
Just 7 months left until the Big Day! I’m so excited to be Mrs. Cook!
There’s only one little snag I’ve encountered: my DJ. I wanted the DJ we do karaoke with to do our wedding. She’s amazing, she keeps everyone entertained, and she will definitely keep the party going. She’s also become a good friend and we love her. My only issue is the company she works for. (Orginially, my DJ was supposed to use a friend’s equipment so I wouldn’t have to worry about dealing with the other company, but he flaked so now we’re stuck with using the other company.) I cannot stand the owner of the company. I don’t know why this woman bothers me so much, but she just does. I would rather get shot in the face than give her my money. She tried to talk me out of having Connie (our karaoke DJ) do the wedding because she hasn’t been “trained” to do weddings. Uh, she’s a professional DJ, she knows how the computer system works, and she knows us. I think that should suffice. The owner of the company, Kathy, said “Maybe I’ll just come with Connie and help her out.” NO YOU WON’T. I do not want this woman anywhere near me on our wedding day. I haven’t put a deposit down for this company, so I wouldn’t be out any money.
Along comes our lighting guy. He’s awesome, super nice, budget-friendly, and also a professional DJ. I’ve decided that I’d like him to DJ our wedding (plus we get a discount on our lighting if we use him for both services!).
Lighting guy/DJ said he would gladly let Connie announce our grand entrance so she would still be involved. I thought that was a great idea, I’m just nervous about how to tell her. She knows how I feel about the owner of her company, as I’ve made myself quite plain in saying that, “If that woman comes anywhere near my wedding, I will not pay her.” I just can’t get it out of my head that on our wedding day I’m going to pay someone I can’t stand.
I don’t think I’m so much looking for advice on what to tell Connie (but if anyone has some, that’s great!) as much as I’m looking for anyone who’s had a similar situation. Sorry this turned out longer than I expected!
