Hey guys — brand new here! I’m trying to decide between 3/4mm or 1mm halo diamonds, surrounding a 1.12ct round brilliant. The jeweler recommends 1mm, but the ‘model’ we were looking at while designing my ring used 3/4mm and I like the look a lot. He just suggested 1mm because it will show more diamond rather than metal. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Will 1mm take away from the size of the 1.12ct round?

My halo has 1.5mm diamonds. It still looks very dainty.

I think 1mm is still super delicate. And the sparkle will be a bit better, imo. But if you love the 3/4mm and you know it, go with what you love! My first ering, I let my jeweler talk me out of something I knew I wanted, and I should not have done that. I regreted it.

Thanks! that looks really nice with the 1.5mm. Makes me feel even more comfortable with 1mm. What size center stone is that?
jcent, to your point, I completely agree! I think I’m just nervous about the Large purchase being perfect. at the end of the day, I trust my jeweler to take what I had in mind and explained, and make it look great. the 2nd opinions from ya’ll makes me less anxious over the next few weeks while it is being made. What I learned today is that the model we were building off of wasn’t made by my jeweler, hence why he’s suggesting the changes to make it prettier in his opinion. For example, the model we were using tapers to 1.6mm width at the top — he suggested 1.75 for structural strength (something I would have likely never noticed if he didn’t bring it up)
