I’m getting married on 07.06.13 too! Most of the stuff we’re doing is DIY, so we’re on a bit of a different timeline. We’re planning on having 50 to 80 people attend our big day, so it won’t be too big of an affair. I’m trying to do a little bit at a time. Slow and steady!

We’ve booked our venue and received our save the dates and invitations. We’ve asked a friend to officiate, another friend has graciously offered to do our photography (SCORE!), and my cousin has offered us his DJ-ing expertise. I think the first thing I did was pick the color scheme. lol. We live near the beach and are getting married right by the water, so I knew that I wanted to have a vintage-beachy feel. That also made picking out my wedding dress a breeze. I got super lucky and found the perfect white, short, beachy dress for $40!

I’ve had my bridesmaids picked out since day one, but my FH is still working on his groomsmen. It’s driving me nuts! We’re still trying to get the guest list together too. I’m hoping we can get the wedding party finalized and save the dates sent out right after Thanksgiving.

I’d say I have about half of our decorations for the reception. I found most of them at upscale-thrift stores. I’ve been painting and crafting like mad whenever I have a free minute.

There are still TONS of things to do (cake, food, drinks, photobooth, honeymoon, FH’s attire, etc), and sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming. Just take a deep breath! Don’t afraid to ask for help!

I have:

  • Purchased a dress, paid it off
  • Booked the venues (both reception and ceremony), paid deposit. The venue takes care of tables, chairs, linens, servingware, bar, food, etc. So a lot is out of the way with this.
  • Room block and link set up.
  • Deposit on cake
  • Booked a photographer, paid half
  • Taken engagement pictures
  • Got color scheme figured out…I think : )
  • Have someone working on my invitations

I desperately need to:

  • Book a DJ
  • Pick a florist
  • Think about hair/makeup
  • Send out save the dates, but I am waiting on pictures.
  • Get bridesmaid dresses started (though I have some in mind)
  • Figure out a LOT of logistics. (getting from venue to venue)
  • Start figuring out a plan of action on centerpieces/decor, though I kinda want to wait to get the florist figured out.

So I have some big, important things done, but also have a long way to go. I have been busy this semester with student teaching, but I am starting to have more time to focus on the wedding again so I will probably start knocking stuff out soon!

Happy planning!

-Started making table runners

-booked an officiant

-decided on and paid deposit for venue

-decided on centerpieces and bought some of the items needed for them

-created a wedding website

-had engagement pictures taken

– started registry

-created programs (still need to print them all and assemble them into paddle fans)

I still really really need to:

-book dj

-decide on food (venue does not have caterer)

-decide on wedding bands (im very indecisive on this)

I dont feel behind, but there is a lot to still left to do. The biggest thing holding me back is the financial aspect of it. Paying for everything little by little.

I have:

Picked a venue, paid in full

Picked a photographer, paid half

Picked a caterer and menu choices

Paid 50% on my dress

DIY’ed tons of decor stuff like centerpieces, signage, runners, etc.

Ordered SOME stuff for our invitations

Booked a DJ and paid a deposit

Booked a cake person and paid a deposit

Picked out wedding bands and paid on them

I still DESPERATELY need to:

Take engagement photos (OOPS!)

Use said photos to order STD’s, AND PAY FOR THEM

Make a huge-ass order from Paper Source to finish our invitations

Pay off my dress/wedding bands/DJ/Caterer/Cake- $$$$$$$$$

Decide on tables and linens from the rental place, and then PAY FOR THEM

Plan the honeymoon, and then PAY FOR IT

Figure out transportation to our venue, AND PAY THEM SOME MONEY TOO

Finalize songs for ceremony, reception, etc.

Print and order menus/programs and other paper stuff

My biggest thing holding me back is money. I am paying for everything in cash as I go, which explains the million deposits on everything and very few balances actually paid in full. I am working two jobs but I’m a teacher, so it’s been a struggle!
