Well here I sit, at my computer, looking up wedding dresses. And I can only think – is it time? I’ve done so much research up until this point and I’m still not sure what the etiquette is for Eloping (so to speak). My fiance and I are eloping in New Zealand. No one knows but my mother and sister, not even his family. They wouldn’t be surprised however, they just aren’t the type to be included in this sort of thing. At this point – I’m just not sure how to proceed. Do I start looking even though we are eloping? We are taking pictures though… on a beautiful mountaintop in New Zealand! My fiance thinks that wearing a white dress atop a (possibly) snowy mountain is the most romantic thing ever, but I want mint green. How much of that is me or the rebelion in me to have something different? I guess at this point I am ranting… What I really want to know bees is: Do I start looking for the dress of my dreams, regardless of color, or do I make it more casual and find something as I go? Keep in mind this is 8 months away. According to my mother whom was married in 2011, this is the perfect time to find what I want and make sure I have time for alts. Any thoughts?

@Chunkyswifey143: I say definitely start looking! If you’re going to order, it takes some time for the dress to come in! Especially since you’re thinking color, I would give it a little extra time to find your perfect dress! You can always just hold onto your dress when you get it. 🙂

@pengoala: Right! I didn’t even think about the fact that the color would take extra time. Thanks!

We are eloping in the fall, and I just got my dress! Ultimately, it is your dress, so do whatever feels right, but if it were me, I would get white with mint green accents, or the other way around.
I don’t know, my mom had a gold wedding dress over 20 years ago, and she still feels like it wasn’t really a wedding dress…
If you don’t care about that (and really, why should you? I know I’m being silly!) then just wear a mint green one!
Either way- start looking! You might find your dress today, and then you can just check that off your list!

@Chunkyswifey143: Definitely start looking for the dress of your dreams. It sounds like you have some pretty unique and specific taste so if you start looking now you’ll be able to see what’s out there. And as pengoala points out if you need to order or alter it you’ll have plenty of time.
