So I have never seen an 8 prong in real life but in pictures they look so beautiful and I’ve kinda fallen in love with them. I have a diamond that needs to be set and was debating between 6 and 8 prongs. The diamond is 2 carat. If I did go with an 8 prong I would try and get the prongs thin, but in general do you think that 8 prongs would be too overwhelming on a 2 carat?

Sorry these pics are sideways, but hopefully they will give you the idea. I have an 8 prong ring and I love it. Mine is only a 1.5 carat equivalent (7.5mm moissy) but the 8 prongs don’t overwhelm the ring at all. In fact, I think going 8 prong was one of the best decisions I made about the ring. As well as the added stone security, which was important to me because of my active job, it was a way of adding a bit of a twist to a classic solitaire setting. If you love the look then go for it, as if I can get away with it on a 1 5 then it shouldn’t be an issue at all for you with a 2 carat stone.
