@MsJ2theZ:  how many people are you having?  you can buy the candy in bulk.  i planned a big retro bday party years ago for my ex and i got all of my candy from this website.  i didn’t buy the already made retro bags, they are expensive.  i bought a lot of different candies and put the bags together myself.  i guess it’s only good if you have a lot of guests.  i had 80ppl coming.  you can definitely try the dollar store for some of these or if you have a bulk food store nearby.

I was born at the tail end of the 70s so I can help you. The most important thing to remember about the 80s is that we loved tacky plastic crap!!!

Remember these tacky plastic charm necklaces?

These tacky plastic shoes?

These tacky plastic bracelets?

Also…we wore our socks like this. (WHY???)

One neon color per outfit? Not enough!

You’ll need to find a hair crimper to get a really authentic 80s look.

I’ll post some decor ideas in a minute.

The easiest way to add an authentic 80s look to your digs is with some posters of crucial 80s icons.

Max Headroom:

Maybe one of those creepy Nagel posters:

Hopefully these posters are available for cheap and are not, like, collector’s items now!

Also, the color combination of peach and teal was huge in home decor. Maybe you can find a bunch of peach and teal balloons!

Have fun!

If you could find the key chain Rubik’s Cubes for favors, it would be great!  Also, maybe gift her with a Rubik’s Cube to remember her party.  I remember in the 80’s watching every adult in the neighborhood struggling with them and ready to kill the kids who could solve them!

@mypinkshoes:  Great idea!  You could buy some cheap garments at cheap thrift shop or yard sale.  You could pass out shoulder pads for people to stack in their cloths.  Or perhaps even with a bit of DIY, use them as massive flower petals and make 80’s inspired shoulder pad flowers!
