- Wedding: August 2016
Our professional photos are finally in! It was so fun going through them and reliving the wedding. Darling Husband and I joke that we were experiencing the wedding for the first time when we saw the photos because everything was a blur the day of! Highlights/advice from the wedding include:
Our venue was beautiful.
Our florist really did an amazing job on the arrangements. I highly recommend incurring the expense of flowers. They really tie everything together.
I loved spending the morning with my girls. It was a great low-stress way to lead up to the busy wedding day.
INVEST IN A DAY-OF COORDINATOR! We did this and I couldn’t recommend it more! She and her assistant handled EVERYTHING (setup, take down, hiccups, etc.) and it really made our day amazing because we (nor our family) were running around trying to take care of these things. Best money we spent.
We had a mild summer here but as luck would have it, we got married on the hottest day of the year and the hotel’s AC broke! We were pretty miserable from the heat and several of our reception photos (including out 1st dance photos) have plastic box fans in them because this was the only way to make the space tolerable. The hotel was nice enough to give us a significant discount for the trouble. We had to haggle with them for it though, so I recommend other brides/grooms don’t be afraid to speak up to the venue if something like this happens to you.
I’m still a little bummed about the fans in some of the photos though.
I bought a reception dress because my wedding dress was 8 layers plus undergarments and I thought I wouldn’t want to stay in it. Wrong. I stayed in it until the very end. But with that heat, it got pretty hot when I danced.
I used Heritage Gown for my dress cleaning and preservation. I opted for a linen garment bag to store my dress because it allows me to examine it periodically as well as check their work. So far I am very happy with it and would recommend it to others.
Now without further delay, here are some photos. 🙂
