Hi, Bees! I’m hoping you ladies can help me out with some visuals. I did a quick search of the ring boards, but mostly found cushions and ovals … and many on smaller finger sizes. Apologies if this topic has been posted to death already.
I am hoping to get a solitaire made in the near future. I am planning for the setting to be 14K rose gold, with the stone being London Blue Topaz. Right now, I’m waffling on the stone size. I currently have a loose london blue that is about 8mm (7.9), and I just ordered one that is around 9mm (but, of course, I don’t have that one in my possession just yet).
Does anyone have a stone in the 8-9mm range (preferably solitaire, but anything in that range would be great) on a finger size 7-8? I’m currently a size 7-7.5.
I think seeing some similar-sized stones in settings would help me decide what might look best. I think I’m feeling paranoid and second-guessing myself because I’ve always had settings with sidestones. I’m worried that I will have this beautiful stone that ends up looking awful or silly just because of the size of my finger. (Does this make any sense at all?)
Thanks in advance for any advice or ring porn you choose to share!

I’m no help w/ pics but there is a website called diamdb.com where you can put in 2 stone measurements/shapes and compare them on your finger size virtually, side-by-side. Just a thought!

My moissanite is 9mm. The ring is a size 6.75 and i actually would like to have it sized up to a 7. Since its summer my fingers have been swelling, especially in the morning and its kinda snug. Hope its some what helpful for you :).

I wish I still had all my pictures from when I was shopping for my ring, but I recently got a new phone. I tried on quite a few round solitaires all around 1 carat. I’m a size 7 too. If it helps the 1 carat rounds did look nice and proportional on my finger. I ended up getting a 1ct pear solitaire though, I have 5000 pictures of that one thanks to the bee! Haha

This is my AG…it’s ~8.4 and my ring size is 7.5, but it’s also in a small halo.

Oh, yes! I had forgotten about that site. Thanks for the helpful reminder!
Wow! Your ring is a stunner! What type of stone do you have? I love the color of it, and the way it looks next to the yellow gold. You must get tons of compliments on your lovely set.
Ooooh! Beautiful ring! And thanks for the 9mm photo. It looks like a pretty substantial size, overall, for a size 7-ish finger. Which helps me to visualize.
Oh! Perfection! This helps so much. I feel like the 8mm in your picture looks amazing, size-wise. When I balanced my own 8mm stone on my finger, I felt unsure about the size. But, maybe it’s also the difference between a stone in a setting and a loose stone sitting closer to my finger. Hmmm. Either way, gorgeous solitaire!
Thanks so much for your insight and advice. It is helpful! I’m happy that you found your perfect ring. It sounds beautiful!
Beautiful ring! Even with the halo, it helps me to visualize the stone size vs. finger size, since your halo is a small one. I wanted a band that was around 2mm, so your band being around that size (maybe even a bit thinner?) helps me, too. Thanks so much!
Thank you all for your photos and advice! It really helps. I think, even if I went with the 8mm stone, I would be in good shape. The 9mm that I bought should get to me sometime next week, so I will probably put the two stones side by side and then decide which to use based on the overall appearance, without worrying as much about the size.

no problem! Just for reference, my band is 2.4mm

It’s a marialite its a collectors gem. I wanted a simple elegant set but non diamond ( no offence to anyone) I am known as the quirky odd one lol so I wanted something different to. Hence my orange beauty x
