My left ring size is a 5. The following are both 8mm stones, though the bezels add a little size as well:

I wore the bezel for a few years but often craved something a bit smaller myself, though the rose gold one is also 8mm as it fit better in the setting. I have since sold both of them; my own sweet spot for a centre stone is closer to 7-7.5mm.

That being said, if this is a coloured stone you are looking at, I find I can go a bit bigger quite comfortably! 🙂

slomotion :  I don’t think it would look comical at all! I do think coloured stones are more forgiving, as they are more about colour than flash, so they tend to not look as “big”, if that makes sense?

If you get it, I look forward to seeing it, I adore vintage rings!

I’m about a 5.5 5.75 but I have ridiculously long fingers and just large hands in general.  In my opinion 7.5-8 mm is the ideal size for my hands. And it doesn’t look ridiculous by any means…

What kind of stone are you looking at?

slomotion :  I just got this so I’m loving showing it off! However, it is a 7.5mm on a size 5 but it should give you a general idea. I don’t think it would look comical!

slomotion :  I’m not sure what type of gem you’re looking at so this may not be helpful, but here’s my 8 mm moonstone on a size 5.25.
