I have an 3 carat (8×8 ish) on a size 7 finger, and it looks HUGE (especially because where I live, smaller diamonds are the norm), because I set it in a higher setting… I had gone as far as to cut little sticky post its on my finger to decide, but neglected to think about the height of the setting/head… so you might think about doing that, but really think about high your setting is off your finger, if that makes a difference.

I was in the exact same predicament- I couldn’t stop going back and forth between the two! I, like PP also used sticky notes on my finger to try and gauge how each would look, because the biggest oval they had in stores in my area is 1ct. STILL couldn’t decide, so Fiance just said he’d order what size he thought was best and that part would be a surprise. Well, I ended up being able to make a decision after all because Fiance accidentally ordered the wrong ring (one with a halo). He got an 8×6, which seemed like the perfect size with a halo, so when we send that one back to get the correct style, we went ahead and ordered the 9×7. I wish I had a picture to show you, but it hasn’t come in yet! I’m still slightly worried, because even though my fingers are 6.5, they’re a little short. So…we’ll see when it arrives!

Not exact to your measurements but kind of close. I like the  length to width ratio.  This is 8.89 x 6.62.  Keep in mind also, my fingers are size 8.

I love the 9×7- keep in mind it will look and feel much bigger once it is set, even without the halo! The bezel or prongs will impact how big it looks and feels if that makes sense. My ring is a round 7.11×7.14 on a size 5. It took some time to get used to wearing it and not knocking it into things, but I feel like there is a long ways to go before it would veer into cocktail ring territory. So for that reason I say go for the 9×7 if you’re comfortable!

Give this site a try. You can see various stones of differing shapes/ carats to compare on various size and shades of fingers. Just plug in the dimensions/ stone and colour and it will give your some idea of what it would look like.

I’m usually the odd man out but I also work with my hands, so I prefer smaller! I was able to get a larger diamond, and stuck with my 1ct because I imagined it’d get banged around. I had to get a prong fixed and got a 10 dollar cz from Kohl’s to wear for the two weeks it was gone. The cz was about a 2ct equivalent and I wanted to throw it out a window after the first day. It got in the way of everything. I’m super clumsy though.

My ring has a pave shank so not technically a solitaire. My oval is 9×6 crushed ice cut harro gem moissanite. I’m a size 4

Mine is 8×6 and I was deciding between this and 7×5. I’m glad I went 8×6, but personally 9×7 would be much too large for me. My finger is size 7.
