So, bees, when my Fiance proposed, he did so with a ring that was in the family that he didn’t intend to be my permenant engagement ring. (It is gorgeous and I love it, but way too impractical to wear all the time.) Observe:
So, we agreed to have one custom designed and well, never really got around to it! In early March, we finally went into a jeweler to have it made. They quoted us with the whole production time to be 4-6 weeks, tops.
12 Weeks later, my ring is ready. I have no idea why it took so long, and neither did the woman who liasoned with the artists for us. I’m thinking because I was picky on the stones (aqua center and white sapphire halo.)
Anyway, finally, here it is!
Yeah, I’m a little obsessed with it now.
-18k white gold, 5 mm band
-Princess cut aquamarine center stone
(the stone has just a tint of blue–way different than my other aqua and exactly what I wanted! In low or very bright lighting, the blue is more evident than in the photos and sooo pretty.)
-White sapphire halo (they do sparkle quite a bit)
-Brushed/frosted finish on the band with milgrain detailing.
It is so much more comfortable than my family ring and doesn’t get caught on anything. I can’t imagine taking it off now. Hooray!!

Beautiful! Congratulations! 🙂

Thank you!! I am so happy with it
@GelaMac: Yes, the band is a plain 2mm hammered band. I don’t have it at the moment, but I put on a band of the same size and it fits along side quite nicely.

Beautiful! What kind of stone is in your first ring? I love it too!

@ellebeerob: Thanks! They are both aquamarine, just very different shades of blue. The amount it can vary is quite impressive, I think! Plus, the color deepens in flash photography, changes in different lighting, etc.

Wow, I love its chunkiness and uniqueness! I am a fan of the chunkier rings and they seem to be so rarely seen these days. It must also be a nice weight. I know my 18k rings, since they are also “chunky” altogether are quite heavy but in a good way!
Your family ring is also a beautiful shade of blue.

@nolabee39: Thanks! When I first saw it, I thought the band might be a little too wide, but now that I’m wearing it, all I see is pretty.
@RayKay: Yeah, there are not too many wide bands out there, but I just about died when I saw the inspiration photo for this one. I’m not a dainty ring person–all through high school and college, I would have the chunkiest darn things on all the time. The ring does feel quite substantial on my hand and I really like that. Plus the band is titanium (thus very lightweight) and I wouldn’t even notice it on!
