I also vote for smacking them.
Seriously, your friends will wear anything for you. These girls just want to get dressed up. They don’t care about you. Let them wear whatever they want as they sit in the audience. Try to return their dresses or sell them.

You paid for their attire, you choose what they wear. End of story. It doesn’t matter if they saw them before or not. Unless it’s super revealing or against someone’s religion, they can wear the dress that the bride paid for or they can sit in the pews.
You are being extremely reasonable, you’re even letting them alter the dresses pretty much any way they please!

Thank you all for your support in this. I have told them that they are not only being selfish but very rude as well. I also told them that if they were not going to wear the dress they can have a seat in the audience, I am not going to change my mind. The junior bms are teenagers and I think they enjoy being difficult but they finally agreed. The other bridesmaid explained that she is a lesbian and is not real comfortable in a dress. She would be more comfortable in a pants suit. I gave her the option to either wear the dress for the service and pictures and then change into what ever she likes or she can wear a khaki pants suit and have a cami made out of the dress. She liked the pants suit idea alot she is even having the material of of the dress altered into the suit. I told her I would never want her to be uncomfortable she explained that she could usually wear a dress for a night but this one is very girly and she would prefer it more fitted. It is not an ideal situation but I would not want her feel as if I am trying to mask who she is.
