- Wedding: April 2016
my ring came today! I got home from work early, and didn’t tell my bf, so I could surprise him. He came in from work with a package under his arm. He kind of froze for a minute, before saying hi. I asked what he had there, and he kind of tried not to smile and said it was just a package he received today. Then he went into the bedroom. Very unusual for him to do that.
A few minutes later, his pager went off (he’s a volunteer firefighter). I ran in to give it to him, and he nearly jumped out of his skin and shoved something under the covers. “Get out!” he yelled. “You have a call!” I yelled back. I heard some rustling, then he told me to come in. Turns out the call was just a test they do sometimes, so he didn’t have to leave. We chatted about our day for a few, and he was trying not to grin randomly during the conversation. I took some pity on him left to go walk the dogs.
Now, I’m almost positive it’s nothing for Valentine’s Day. This will be our fifth V-day together, and we’ve never exchanged gifts. We just go out to a nice dinner, and I get him candy, and he gets me flowers.
On top of this behavior, he told me last week he had an important purchase taken care of (with a sly grin) and now could save some money for a new TV he’s been wanting. And on top of that, this week he asked when we might be visiting my parents again. I know he wants to ask my dad in person and wanted to wait until he had the ring.
I know it’s not happening soon soon. He has always been adamantly against a holiday proposal of any kind, and we won’t be seeing my parents until April. But it feels so real now! I have known it’s been coming for a while and am not really impatient for it, just excited and trying to enjoy these last few months of this stage of our lives before we move on to the next.
I started coming to this board, because until the last few months or so, I never gave two figs about weddings. But now that I know it’s going to happen with this wonderful guy I am so in love with, I keep getting more and more excited! Anyway, I can’t really tell anyone in person about this, so I had to come here and telll a bunch of strangers. Thanks for reading!
