We just built a house and ended up going with Maytag appliances, there were cheaper and obviously more expensive ones but we found these to be the best value at the time we were looking and had the best reviews.
Below is the stove and refridgerator we went with, the microwave and dishwasher were from the same line as well. I love everything about my stove! Im not use to the refridgerator yet, I have always had one of the old ones with the freezer on top and fridge on bottom so still trying to figure out how to organize this one!
I feel silly but I would really like to have everything be the same brand.
ours are all frigidaire, stainless steel and i love them.
We got whirlpool gold appliances in the kitchen and kenmore washer and dryer. We got them all from sears during a sale. We’ve been using them over 2 years with no complaints.
I can’t comment on induction stove as we don’t have it, just a regular electric with convection option for oven.
@sbruin99: do you care if the brand names are the same?? when i bought my previous appliances for my new house, i bought different brands b/c (for example) maytag might make a good dishwasher but not a good fridge, right? they were still all the same colour though.
i am building another house and again, the brands won’t match but the style and colour will.
I love my Bosch dishwasher (stainless steel, super quiet) and my Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer (white, works great, had no problems, and my dad claims his socks are softer with them than with another brand they had). I love my Whirlpool fridge (bottom freezer, french door top, stainless steel).
My house had GE appliances from 1997, and the washer and dryer were already not working right when I bought the house in 2007, and I replaced the dishwasher within the year (So I’ve had the washer, dryer, and dishwasher 5-6 years and still love them). I’ve had the fridge for a year and a half. No problems with any of them.
Haven’t had to replace the oven or microwave yet.
@sbruin99: We have a combo of Maytag and Frigidaire stainless steel appliances. While they aren’t Viking or Wolf, we opted for the mid or high lines of both brands. If you go for basic builder grade appliances, they’ll be basic. If you opt for a higher line, they’ll be nicer. Both brands are comparable, but each had features that we liked in different appliances. Our fridge and dishwasher are Maytag. Our stove and microwave are Frigidaire. Our washer and dryer are high efficiency LG’s.
For example, here are several stoves by Frigidaire:
Hope this helps!
I know personal when it come appliances I don’t have a preference on the brand but I do care about the warranty and what the warranty covers. If buying a fridge check and see how long the warranty covers certain things like the compressor. You would be suprise that a lot of whirlpool fridges warranties only cover the compressor for a year compare to the standard 5. And a compressor for some fridges cost more to replace then buying a new one.
I think Whirlpool Gold is a good compromise between price, features, and durability. I’ve had them before and was very pleased.
My previous house had all GE Profile appliances (selected by the previous owner). They are a little more high end, and I loved them.
We have a mix of GE and Frigidaire appliances in our current house, and we aren’t crazy about them – especially the low grade Frigidaire dishwasher. (Is it wrong that I’m hoping it will break in a couple of years so that I can replace it with something similar to what I had at my previous house??)
