We don’t really have a budget. We are just trying to save as much money where we can and remember not to spend money on things we consider unnecessary. That being said, I sort of have a “magic number” of around 15k in my head, paid for by a combination of different family members. That doesn’t include whatever we decide to do for our honeymoon, nor does it include my ring.

I think not having a tight budget, but trying to be as frugal as possible has made it a lot less stressful when making major decisions. When deciding on vendors, we try to get the best deal possible for the service and make some compromises to do so. For example, we went with a photog that is less established in the area but does really great work (www.kimsellers.com) because her price for our “must haves” was better than anything else we could find.

What do you guys think? Is it easier to stay within a strict budget, or just try to find the best price available?

Our max is 35K for everything from the Rehearsal Dinner, E-photos, hair/attire, reception and ceremony, gifts to bridal party and our Sunday brunch.  Right now we are at 32K.

OUr guest total is 200-250 people.

We started with $30K, thought we could go down to $27K, and now it looks like, total, we’ll be at about $32K.

@bkgrahamwedding: we’re kind of doing it the same way. I went by the average wedding cost in my area, and figured I’d be okay if I didn’t go over. In the meantime, I try to stick with what I wanted before I started reading Martha (ha!) and concentrate on finding the best prices I can for those items.

Around 20k, but like bkgrahamwedding it’s not set in stone.

We’re trying to keep ours under 100K, but we’re expecting about 250.
