We just bought a Canon T3i and I love it. I think the only difference between the T3i and the T2i is the flip out screen so if you’re looking to save money I’d go T2i.

I’ve heard great things about th Canon Rebel.  We have the Canon EOS 50D, but that’s probably overkill unless you’re really interested in getting hardcore into DSLR photography.

you can’t go wrong with almost any of the canon point and shoots. Just make sure it has image stabilizer and a good zoom.

We were going to buy a dslr, but realized that a small point and shoot is going to get a ton more use every day.  So we just bought an olympus from costco that was about $100 on sale.  The biggest features I like are the larger, wide angle lens, in addition to 14 megapixels, 12.5x zoom, hd video, and image stablizer.  It also came with 2 batteries and a big memory card, which were nice bonuses.  It’s certainly not top of the line, but it’s very clear, and won’t weigh me down when I’m already carrying 2 babes.

I have little canon and panasonic P&S to have with me all the time on the go, and a Canon T3 for special event and at home shots.  Also get the 50mm f/1.8 lens for about ~100.  Great cheap sharp portrait lens.  Check amazon to see example images of what you can do with it.
