It has come to my attention that many women (myself included!) do not truely know what etiquette is! We often think we are breaking etiquette rules by being unconventional, or following cultural traditions, which isn’t the case!
So I am inventing a new word. Fadiquette. Or Fauxiquette. For all the things, like not wearing a white dress, or having groomswomen, or man of honor, or not extending a plus one to everyone and their mother, or not having an invitation that weighs 10lbs, etc etc.
Most of us want to do what is best for our guests. THAT is good etiquette. Having any style of reception, is good etiquette. Not having one, is poor etiquette. Having one laden with centerpieces, candy bars, favors and chargers, is fadiquette 🙂
It isn’t a negative word, but it’s also not something that is set in stone, rude, or meant for the better of your guests. It’s stuff that doesn’t fall in the tradition category, or the etiquette “rules”.
That is my weekly rant 🙂
