One last thing – when I was writing about the refinance – I forgot about the fact that there is an ex wife involved. I assume that what you will want to do is have the house titled in your name and your husband’s name and have a loan which is made to the two of you. When I wrote the above paragraph, I forgot for a moment that she is involved. I assume that you would want title to the property held in your names jointly. The lender will require that both you and your husband be on the mortgage.
I decided to not edit the post but instead explain this in a new post because someone else who searches for an answer where there is not an ex spouse involved could benefit from the suggestions contained in the paragraph above about having the past due amounts roilled back into the loan balance.
