I am so sad. I had already chosen wedding invitations and will order them next week for my March wedding. I am ordering them from http://www.einvite.com and for 150 invitations I am only paying $129 plus shipping $30 for shipping!!
I don’t want to spend too much money on my invitations since its not on the top of my priority list. If I could I would just send everyone emails out to give them the details of the wedding. I figure most of my guest wont cherish the beautiful invitaitons that I would be spending an arm and a leg for…so I budgeted only $200 for the invitations including the postage.
So here is my dilemma….Our wedding colors are purple and green (well lavendar and sage to be exact) we have decided to have a princess and the frog theme. I’m not going to go all out with the theme but just add a few touches here and there. I beleive that my Fiance in my prince and I really did kiss alot of frogs to find my prince. He feels the same way about me since we were both married for less than 3 years to other people and had lost hope on love only to take a chance on each other and find our true loves. Which is why we are like a fairytale.
Well jus today I ran across a wedding inviation that goes perfectly with our colors and theme and I absolutely love it!! Its so classy and just perfectly fits all our wedding decorations.
Of course these invitations cost more. For 150 invitations (only invites nothing else) its $434.10 !!
I know that some of the bees spend much more than this but this is $234 over my invitation budget not including the cost of the stamps.
I wonder what I can deduct from in our budget so I can get these cute invitations….or should I stick with my previous attitude towards the invitations that they are only paper providing the guest with the details of the event
What should I do.. I really like the waterlily and the colors…perfectly matches our them.
Any suggestions, opinions…help talk some sense into me so I can be happy about my cheapo invitation 🙂

OK, personal opinion – I love the card on the 2nd invite, but hate the lotus flower wrap, so for the extra cost, I would stay with your original. But, I like more formal items, and think that the card on #2 says that – but #1 is so pretty!
And I love that you found your prince after the frogs – I feel the same way about mine 🙂

I say order a sample from the expensive company as your own keepsake and then order your more economical invites from the other place. The only time you will ever see these invites is packing them up into envelopes and mailing them out.
Guess what will most likely happen to you $400? It will go in the trash after the wedding is over, because most likely, 100% of your guests are NOT going to keep and treasure your wedding invitations.
When you take into consideration that only about 60 to 70% of people actually show up to the wedding, I just see it as a waste to spend about $3 per invite. Remember that no one cares as much about our theme or love affair as you and your Fiance do, so keep that in mind when spending lots of money.

@honeybee1999: Thank you for your voice of reason and yes I think I will order a sample and put it in my scrapbook 🙂 great idea
@nyscpa2be: Thanks for your opinion, yes I think that they are both pretty and I think #2 is more formal, we aren’t having a super formal affair since we have invited young children and will be having an actual children’s corner to accomodate them. So yes I think I am going to sleep on it and try to stick with my original invitations.
My prince was really like kissing a frog because of several issues he presented to me when we first met if could hav scared many people away. But I saw beyond his issues and took the time to get to know him and realized that he is truly a jewel and has been my prince charming ever since. He doesn’t even try to be nice and yet he still is nice and supportive towards me…it makes me laugh that he is all that I want and he doesn’t even have to try to be anything other than himself.
So yes let me save my budget and focus on my more afforadable cards!! Thanks BEES!!!
