I did it two years ago and I LOVED the results! It is soooo wonderful! It was more expensive than I would have liked, but honestly it was worth it to me. My smile is gorgeous and it totally improved my overall look. I get compliments all the time on how great of a smile/nice teeth I have and so I really think Invisalign is the way to go.

I had it when I was in college, so wearing it all day in classes and whatnot was really easy. I just popped them out when I ate and if I was going out that night I would take them out for a few hours when I was drinking or whatever. Luckily you can just take them out for a few seconds when you take a picture and if you end up leaving them out all day for whatever reason, you can just add an extra day to your period of time to wear that tray (the retainer).

You get used to wearing them pretty quick… Yeah you will talk a little funny at first, and it’s not the most convenient thing in the world, but depending on how severe your changes are, you won’t have the Invisalign for very long! Mine was like 9 months I think.

I can’t even fit all the positive things I experienced while having Invisalign, but I really recommend it!

  • Wedding: August 2010

I’m on Week 5…the top is supposed to be done by August, the bottom will be a little longer.

I have attachments (like little tooth colored braces) on six upper and 3 lower teeth because my case is slightly complicated I guess.  The attachments make it really hard to get the trays off but I’m kinda getting used to it.

Also, the plastic sometimes rubs against my tongue (painfully) because it doesn’t fit totally snug against all edges.

The pain seems to be less than regular braces (which I had for 4 years) and it’s really not very noticeable on my teeth.

I can’t wait until I can see a difference!

My fiance got it and should be done a few weeks before our wedding.  I can already see a diff in the way both the top and bottom look.  He experiences a little pain on the first night of getting a new retainer and they give him headaches but nothing he can’t handle.  From my point of view it seems like money well spent!  Do it 🙂

I’m using Invisalign and I LOVE IT! I’m on my 6th tray (out of 14) so I’m almost half way done and I’ve seen a huge difference! Like sarahsd, I also have buttons on my teeth, which were a little annoying to remove the trays but I don’t even notice it now. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine taking wedding photos without having this done. They are worth the investment (in my opinion) and you should be done much quicker than traditional braces; I have a pretty complicated case and it’s only taking 7 months. GO FOR IT!

Mr. Kitten is a dentist and he does Invisalign.  He thinks it is awesome–for certian cases.  He says it’s rare that a dentist should do Invisalign all the way through without a month or two (or several) of real brackets.  Usually people don’t need full mouth brackets, just a few.  There are some really easy cases (such as closing gaps in teeth) that don’t require that, but for best results you may have to have brackets for a little while.  I would go to an orthodonist too.  Dentists can do them, but orthodontists do a 2-3 year residency to learn this stuff.

There is a cheaper venison, in case you are cost conscious.  Many times the Orthodontists can offer you the “off-brand” but won’t unless you ask.

A company called AOA orthodontics makes the Red, White and Blue system or Simpli5 system.  Depends on how much straightening is needed.

I had the Simpli5, I liked it,  but it is a bit painful.  To be expected though.

I started it in April 2009, and will go back Feb 12 for my last appointment.  Perfectly straight teeth in less than one year!

You can call AOA and ask them what Orthos in your area have it.  I bet it’ll work great for you if you’ve had braces in the past. That was my situation, so my jaws were already aligned and all that other good stuff, just needed a little teeth movement!

Get consultations and quotes from at least 2 Dr.s.  Mine was only $1800 for top and bottom.  Pretty good considering Invisalign is about $4000

i did it a few years ago and was pleased with the experience.  it does take a lot of getting used to and maintenance, though–taking the braces in and out when you want to eat or drink something besides water, going in at regular intervals to get the new set…although to a certain extent you could say that about any braces.

are my teeth perfect now? no, but i think that’s just my teeth. they’re waaay better than they were before.

i was dead set against getting metal braces (even though they are cheaper and work faster, i believe), and i was making enough money at the time that the investment was worth it. it’s not for everyone, though.

I do Invisalign at the dental office that I work at, what questions do you have?

I didn’t use insurance, because I dropped my dental 3 years ago.  I have perfectly healthy teeth, and it (at the time) was cheaper for me to pay for 2 cleanings a year than to pay the $30/month for dental insurance.  So still, $1800 out of pocket was worth it for straight teeth in allll those pictures! let me look around to see if I have before and afters.

Before: Yuck!  Snaggle tooth

After: This was in October, before my last set of retainers.  So it’s even better now.  Like I said before, I’m totally done in Feb.

Actually, it’s a lot better now, because those side teeth are pulled down.

Wow was it really $1800 for the invisalign?

I have ONE stupid tooth on the bottom that is caving in. My parents decided I didn’t need my wisdom teeth taken out until I was 18. So naturally they messed up my bottom teeth!

I’ve been thinking about having it fixed in a few years when it gets bad enough to deal with. Right now it’s not major.

Pretty sure my original braces were $5500 back in CAlifornia! But i also wore from them 1st grade through 6th! Yuck.
