I have been reading more and more about couples doing mini-moons. I think that they are a fantastic butget-friendly idea! We are doing a very mini-mini-moon 😉 After our small wedding we are taking a day trip to some natural hot-springs and then to a bed and breakfast for the night. We just didn’t want to go home the day after the wedding and look at each other like – what the heck did we just do!?! 😉 lol j/k We are taking our official honeymoon in October after our second reception in our homestate.
What do you think about mini-moons? Are you doing a mini-moon and if so, what are your plans??

I think they are a great idea! We plan to do a couple of mini-moons the first year, then take a longer more formal honeymoon on our 1 year anniversary.
For our mini-moon, we are going to NYC (5 hour drive from home) for a long weekend about 3 weeks after we get married. I have a class in NYC on Friday morning, then after that the weekend is ours! My aunt and uncle are giving us their pass to the Met, and to the Natural History Museum, we don’t know which we’ll go to yet. Might catch a matinee, depending on what shows are playing when we’re there. Other than that, lots of walking, and lots of eating.

We are doing a mini-moon. Our wedding is a destination wedding and we are hanging with the fam for a few days and leaving mid week through the weekend until we get back home. He planned everything, I have no idea where, I’m so excited!!!!

I think mini-moons are a great idea! Great way to relax after the wedding, but won’t miss the greatness of the honeymoon due to tiredness of the wedding.

Mu husband and I got married the week before Christmas so we just took 3 nights locally and it was amazing. We agreed to take a few 3 day weekends this year if we could as a way to keep celebrating. They’re a great, budget friendly, way to go.

We’re doing a mini-moon at a resort 2 hours from home (leaving Sunday – our wedding is Friday). Then, at the end of November, we’re going to Jamaica for a week. We figured that November/December weather sucks where we are, and September is still hurricane season, so we might as well postpone a little bit. But yeah, I didn’t want to go right back to work after the wedding . . . so mini-moon, here we come!

@Goldilocks1107 – we are doing something similar. The hotel our reception is at offers the bride and groom a 2 night stay, rather than just one night so we are staying an extra day, in town. Then we are taking an official honeymoon the following January or February. We haven’t picked an exact location but it will definitely be tropical.

We’re doing 3 nights in the Dominican Republic for our mini-moon right after the wedding because we plan on going to Thailand for two weeks next year for our “real” honeymoon but we need to see what the money situation is like after the wedding (we’re doing a honeymoon registry) in order to plan the bigger trip and FI’s parents offered to pay for the DR trip so we could go away right after the wedding and not have it affect our Thailand plans. Future In-Laws FTW!
