Hi Bees – My friend’s hairdresser went crazy over the weekend and gave her a huge cut instead of a trim. She heard that prenatal vitamins help your hair grow back faster. I told her I’d ask you guys in case anyone was on them. Are there any side affects? Or is there one vitamin in them that helps your hair grow, so that she could just take that? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I do think that prenatal vitamins have helped me to grow healthier hair (although I am not sure about if it is growing much faster) I have heard that doing 5-10 minutes of scalp massage, twice a day is the best way to promote circulation, and encourage hair growth.
It won’t hurt to take the prenatal vitamins, my family doctor actually told me it is recommended that you start 18-24 months before even beginning to try to conceive.

I don’t know if they’ll help, but they shouldn’t hurt anything 🙂

I’m on them and it does help both your hair and nails grow faster. There is also a “hair and nail” vitamin (I’ve bought it at Wal Mart) that helped my hair grow faster as well.
They’re basically just a multi vitamin that has some extra iron and folic acid in them. They should be pretty harmless.
